On right now, then again from 10-11pm and 1-2am (all EDT). Unless the schedule changes over the next couple of days, this will be my last full on-air shift.
Nicole has announced formally that tonight will be her last full on air shift.
-
Wow, i knew this was coming.
Anyways, they said something about this in December.
Also, I saw on the TV that TWC was going primetime or something like that.
-
very sad the way TWC is treating her. Another good one bites the dust, Yet Santos is still there

They shouldn't treat all of the women like that, though.
Santos needs to go...sorry!!!!
-
Just commented on her Facebook:
TWC Viewer: Dude are u gone? I noticed that they seem to be going with younger and sexier ppl. I thought you were more than qualified.
Nichole: Younger, sexier, and in my case, someone who won't cause an "incovenience" to the company by needing time off for military service. (Of course, no reason was given, but that was the only thing the NBC folks ever complained about in reference to my work performance.)

I agree with you 110% it;'s just down right wrong what NBC/TWC has done to all all the women that have ever worked for them.

The people there at the network are being sexist and they need to stop!!!!
What do women do so bad that would make them go so fast like this?

How can the say an inconvenience when they do PR by showing clips of her in her duties with the Hurricane Hunters.

Could not have said it better myself!
-
Its not completely clear to me right now, but is her leaving her own choice, or is management making the choice for her? They need to keep her at a fill-in position as long as they can in my opinion. She also said she is cleaning out her coat closet @ TWC, so its kinda obvious to me she is leaving permanently.
-
It'll be sad to see her go. :( I randomly searched a YouTube video last night showing some funny moments with Nicole and Paul on WC.
But wait, I thought she was supposed to be off-air about a month or so ago. :dunno:
-
Kinda figured she was going very soon since she put some TWC gear up for sale on Ebay today.
-
Ah... Another good day at TWC. Someone gets fired or has to leave, technical screw-ups continue to happen, and while there is severe weather going on, we see long form while they have a long coffee break or lounge around the office.
-
I'm going to hope that THIS was not Nicole's last broadcast ever. <_< (although, it DID happen on her last night...)
(Video Courtesy: Trevor Birchett) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujZjpiOSNDU)
-
She is on live right now, and then at 1am I think.
-
Her last broadcast will be at the 1 AM ET showing of PME which will be live
-
If this is all true, I found it extremely interesting this evening (not knowing that this is her last shift), she was supposed to do one of those "quick update on the 30/00" and she was ready to go and ON CAMERA......except the entire set was dark! You could barely see her on the right side of the screen for about five seconds as she read the teleprompter.....and then POOF....satellite local forecast and Mr. Starks until the next prgram started.
Thanks! You have the clip as proof!!!!

Yeah, that is on the blooper thread, and when they do the weather, they don't read a teleprompter since all they have to remember is their name and when to do things. If you see Accu-weather on the other hand, some of their mets need a teleprompter for their names.
-
I'm going to miss Nicole. :cry3:
I'm glad I got two clips of her.
-
Shame they couldnt use her a lot on the 10:50 segment a lot in which i capped (for nothing) :hmm: anyways, well miss you Nicole :(

Another stupid choice at TWC.

That's pretty pathetic that they would complain about her military service "getting in the way." Then again, this is NBC, who owns MSNBC, which is a liberal network, of whom generally hate our military, who were in a movie with Kevin Bacon. :P
-
I am not too upset about this, as Nicole was never my favorite nor did I ever watch Weather Center late. However, she is much better than some of the new hires, and I hate seeing people lose their jobs.
Good luck to Nicole Mitchell.

Ironic, the symmetry of her last hour's shift. I first noticed her when she joined the TWC working a Saturday afternoon hour's shift solo, and now her last hour she is back doing a solo shift on Saturday night, albiet now a lot of pre-recorded clips. Back then it was just all weather.
She didn't mentioned anything about this being her last segment at TWC. Jodi Saeland still wins the departing sign-off of a leaving OCM.
-
i cant believe they got rid of Nicole!! O wait a minute yes i can!! Another EPIC FAIL by The weather channel
-

How did she sign off, always was a Saeland fan.
-
I just read that on her FB page. How sad, but, we all knew that it was coming sooner or later.
I hope she finds, or has already, found another job.
Thank you for your service both on TWC an in the Military and we will miss you!
-
Sorry for the double post.
Nicole did a few of the live weather updates this afternoon/evening. She did say on her FB page that she will be behind the scenes and doing a few cut-ins during the next couple days.
-
I thought Nicole was in the Air Force.

I totally agree with Matt on this one. BTW, sorry for the double post.

You mean the sign-off for Jodi Saeland. It was a long time ago, but in general it went something like this. Toward the end of her last segment, a cameraman put up a placard saying something like, "we will miss you". After noticing it from the monitor, she couldn't get any words out so TWC went dark for those ending minutes.
-
well TWC has gotten rid of some of the best, as well as hired some of the best. Brian Norcross was hired he would make a much better hurricane expert than Dr Knabb. They got rid of Nicole. Who knows who her replacement will be! Mark Mancuso,Sharon Resultan,Kristina Abernathy, Alexandra Steele,Dave Schwartz, Cheryl Lemke,Kevin Robinson, ETC, One of the best hurricane experts Dr Steve Lyons he left because i guess he was afraid he was next on the cut list! I wander how long it will be before Dr Greg Forbes announces his cut or departure?!! I have about had enough of the weather channel myself. I only watch it now if i know that bad weather may hit my area or a hurricane is making landfall in the us. Not even that coverage is the same since NBC bought them. Please dont anyone get mad at me for saying this but with the hurricane coverage when Storm Alert was announced in 2002 i think TWC got better through 2005 then started to fall in 2006. NBC bought them in 2010 i think? Someone correct me if im wrong but basically my point is none of the coverage is the same anymore. I wander how they will handle hurricane coverage in 2011? My guess show regular programing , LOL at this but i see (Hurricane what ever) is a cat 5 going to hit Louisiana stay tuned for the latest as it is about 8 hours from landfall...Storm stories is next lol :rofl2:
-
I don't think they will get rid of Dr. Forbes, since he gives the details we need and does it very professionally. No to mention his degree(s) and work with Dr. Fujita. Kevin Robinson left on his own choice to take the position of Chief Meteorologist in Cincinnati. Its just a shame of what the have done with the good OCMs.
-
I thought Nicole was in the Air Force.
She is.
-
it is sad....Glad to know Kevin left on his own will and wasn't forced to leave

Although Keven left on his own, he could see the writing on the wall in that TWC kept using him less and less. Has there been any OCM who got removed from a prime spot to do mostly fill-ins, then return to another prime spot later. Maybe Heather Tesch or Carl Parker might be in that category, but not sure.

I hate how they treated him with his on air work. He probably is being more successful at his new job. I saw him on an interview a month or so ago talking about the first snow storm of the season in Cincinnati. They have done the same thing to people like Mike Sidel and Jeff Morrow.
-
NBC bought them in 2010 i think?
NBC bought twc in July 6, 2008, imo TWC started to fall 8 months after NBC bought twc (for live broadcast)

Heather, no. She started as Marshall Seese's partner on Weather Center AM before YWT premiered in 2000.

i knew it was some were in there just wasnt sure when. Thank you :)
-
Just saw on Facebook where Nicole Mitchell is starting her own fan page. That may prove interesting.
-
Just saw Nicole  on DP doing just a cut-in for the "On the radar" segment, she wasn't on the full show.
-
well at least she is still there :)
-
Nicole Mitchell will actually be filling in today for Vivian from 3 to 7pm.
-
It's strange that in most businesses they will ask the departing employee to clean out their desk and leave immediately, even though still paying them. TWC must trust their OCM by letting them go on the air after their 'letting-go'. i
-
Nicole on TWC again from 3PM-7PM. Hmm... I guess if she's at TWC behind the scenes, instead of TWC calling in another OCM for Vivian, they just ask Nicole to fill-in. It's a way to save time and a few hundred dollars.
-
i wander were Vivian was today?

I think they said she had the day off.

For those of you on Facebook, Nicole has made another fan page for herself that her fans can like. She will update it even when she is gone from TWC. Here's the link:

Nicole's Final Post
After almost 7 years, I am about to walk out of TWC for the last time!
Thank you all for letting me come into your lives, bring you all things weather, and hopefully offer the occasional smile!
So, I don't know what the next chapter of life will hold, or where I will be next, but hopefully new adventures await. I wish you all the best!
-
Darn, not her too. Something about her really made me happy. And somehow Samantha Mohr is still there.

I bet they'll let her go when her contract is up, too! I'm not a fan of her anymore.
-
Rest her soul, at TWC, anyway.
-
I'll miss Nicole. She was beautiful, and had such a warm, likeable personality on the air. Here is a funny moment with her and Paul Goodloe. :rofl2:
TWC Weather Center - Nicole Dances over a 60-sec forecast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bq7UxijeAxo#)
-
B) That was cool. -> no smokin on da set, though. :smoke2:
Best of luck to Ms. Mitchell.
-
I already have someone asking me of Nicole Mitchell left TWC. I didn't know about it until a few days ago.
Though, I knew it was coming. I said this a long time ago: she just has a lot on her plate. Military duties, recently completing her law degree, etc. Assuming that the reason she left TWC is because TWC "has had it" with the frequent military leaves.
Nicole was awesome. I'll miss her.
-
This is terrible i feel sorry for Nicole and for the others who are being mistreated by NBC management.
Good luck in the future Nicole.
-
TWC is not the same without Alexandra and Nicole.
-
anyone else note that everyone who has hosted your weather today, with the exception of heather, who went to Evening Edition/Weather Center is gone now.
interesting fact. :P
-
TWC is taking Nicole's FB page off their site. They said they appreciated her work and wished her the best. A RW is credited for the notice. Who is RW?
-
Apparently there is more than a story in regards to Nicole Mitchell's absence as evident on her latest Fb status: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=221549761193664&id=192972824051358 (http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=221549761193664&id=192972824051358)
Our Military does great work like hunt down terrorists so they won't kill more people, or in my case, fly into hurricanes to keep people on the ground safe. Yet, NBC didn't want a military reservist @ TWC bcse they were annoyed my military work didn't always fit into "their" schedule. Shameful! For some reason this is bothering me more today w/ the Bin Laden news & being reminded of the things military folks go thru.
If NBC fired her because of her military duty, then isn't that against the law ?

I know reservists and active military folks are to get their jobs back after their tour of duty is over (i.e. being called up to serve in Afghanistan). That IS the law. I'm not sure how you would categorize working as a hurricane hunter. It may fall along the same lines as National Guard personnel who take a weekend a month and another two weeks period for exercises.
Even with all of that, NBC knew full well she (and Warren Madden for that matter) did hurricane missions at Keesler AFB from time to time. I think both were treated very unfairly by their former bosses.
-
wait... i thought madden was still w/ twc... but as a freelancer thus rarely appearing...
-
I wouldn't be surprised if NBC forced him into such an arrangement.
-
They havent yet though... purely what they did to Nicole was wrong <_<
-
I thought I saw Madden a few nights ago.
-
to pursue passing the bar and working as an attorney.
-
No, we have already confirmed she has not left on her on will.
-

Didn't Warren leave TWC voluntarily to take a job with some sort of Aircraft company? IIRC, he announced it on the old TWCMB. He still does occasional fill-in work at TWC just like Ryan Goswick.
I think Warren left long before NBC took over.
-
No, we have already confirmed she has not left on her on will.
Huh? As I understood it she did. TWC cut her down from full time to part time appearances and she decided to leave. I don't believe she was actually "fired"
-
Nicole Posted on her status a few days ago that she was helping out at the National Hurricane Center for a few days... So I guess she is still in weather... Looks like she's been on constant vacations after leaving TWC though... :worship:

She's still an active member of the air force/hurricane hunters, so I don't see her leaving it any time soon, unless something better comes along the way.
-
Is Nicole working anyplace besides her work with the USAF Reserves? Can that be a full-time position?
