TWC's hiring another new OCM. This time it's Keith Carson from WLBZ in Bangor. He's expected to start at TWC in august.

They're really pullin' em out of the wood work now. This is like the 3rd one in just a few months.

Maybe, because at this point I really feel like they don't need any additional OCMs. Perhaps they are making enough money now to replace all those who were unfortunately left off, or as you said Adrian, they may need some for "behind-the-scenes" stuff. Sometimes I hardly recognize the OCMs that do the Focus Forecasts on weather.com.

This makes me wonder who gets let go to make more room for the new OCMs. Something's got to give here.

Michael Smith is not doing full shifts yet. He did one or two shifts last weekend and since then is doing the updates during taped programming and one or two segments during the live shows.
Danielle returned today so everyone is back and it seems no one has left.
Kyla and Jennifer are still doing fill-in shifts.

Keith Carson debuted with Ray Stagich on 5am edition of Weekend View this morning.

I saw him for the first time today. He looks very young, like high school young. I bet he's one of if not the youngest OCMs there now.

I'm actually a big fan of this guy. Very chill, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable in his presentations while at the same time young and attractive like others said.

I haven't seen him yet, but I haven't been watching TWC lately. I need to get caught up. I guess I haven't watched TWC much because October is a boring weather month.
I wonder what Keith's age is. I'm sure I'm older than he is, and I'm sure some other forum members are, also.

Keith Carson announced today that he's leaving TWC on his Facebook page and on Twitter. Apparently it's his choice (he said not to send hate mail to management, lol).

I feel bad about my post about him! I never knew he saw it! I didn't mean to sound too judgmental, but as they say, some things are better left unsaid. I hope he knows I like him overall.
Also, I'm sorry to hear he's leaving. He grew on me a lot over the years.

At least yesterday Keith got to do the 3-6pm Weather Center Live as his last show. He was a good meteorologist. I felt like however when they put him solo back in March, he lost some of that comedy. (I think because his comedy works best when there is another OCM to bounce off of.) But his solo Weather Center Live was still fine.
Hate to see him go. Especially when there are several current OCMs who are unwatchable.

I didn't really have a chance to form an opinion on him over the years, especially now that I don't have cable.
But what I find interesting is that he, along with Kait Parker, both left voluntarily on their own free will this year, after only spending a few years on the network. That to me shows that these meteorologists that were recently hired this decade aren't happy with the crap going on behind the scenes. And I feel like NBC didn't expect this either, considering they had to bring back Kelly Cass, who they let go in the first place, back full time.
I hope NBC takes this as a sign that something needs to change. The only people who have been there for a long time now are the 1999 and early 2000s crowd (Stephanie, Mike, Carl, Alexandra, Jennifer, Paul) and the only other ones i can think of that have been there for half a decade are Maria and probably Chris Warren. Not good.
