Ed Libus or Leebus?
« on: March 31, 2012, 01:51:09 PM »
I've noticed on weather.com a meteorlogist by the name of Ed Libus. I'm not sure if I spelled his last name correctly, my apologies. Is he a new meteorologist, or has he been with twc for a while, or is he a free lance filling in? Take a look at today's storm watch video on weather.com.

I've gone off on a journey to be a moderator at another forum, but this place will forever remain home for me~

That's the guy! I didn't know if he was new or not. Mod's may remove this if it's not appropriate.

He's a radio personality, so that's probably why you've never heard of him. BTW, why couldn't you take two minutes to look him up again on weather.com to get his name right? :hmm:

I didn't even know how to spell his name, so how would I have looked it up? I didn't think about weather.com, I don't use that site.

But you obviously know about it (weather.com). It would have taken you about a minute to find him on there, even if you didn't know how to spell his name.

It just amazes me how many people these days post questions like this on forums and Yahoo Answers. Questions that could easily be answered by doing a little work. I don't get it. :dunno:

Excuse me for that. I said you should delete it. I couldn't even hear his name pronounced correctly, so I couldn't find it. You don't have to be so harsh for that. All it is is a post.

He's a great, great guy! He was our chief meteorologist here at KTKA-TV (ABC) 49 in Topeka for many years when I was at the station in the late 1990's and early 2000's. Got to work with him many times and hang out with him in the weather center, especially during severe weather coverage. Gave me many tips as I was practicing at the news desk and gave me one of the biggest compliments I've ever had. Grabbed a camera as storms were rolling in, went through the studio past him to go out back of the station, he stopped me and said laughingly, "Where are you goin'?" I said, "Out back to shoot video." He said, "You're going out back to shoot lightning video?" I said, "Yeah, so we can have something to show if we need to break in soon." He said, "Nobody asked you to go shoot video, you grabbed a camera and did it yourself? That's the kind of drive and motivation that's gonna get you somewhere in this business." Never forget that.

I was told later by Julie Goldberg (now Julie Unruh at WGN-TV), our weeeknd anchor at the time, I wasn't supposed to be using the cameras. Eh, oh well. Glad he never wanted to use the video, because it came out incredibly bad! lol :whistling:
