I hate dragging this thread out, but in my mind Alexandra was not one of the best OCMs, and definitely should not be grouped as one of the old-timers.  She has only been at TWC 5-7 years. Who did they get rid of to bring her in? I'm thinking she was part of the first wave of what TWC has become. I wouldn't include her as part of the past.

You're right.  Two prominent female OCMs from The Weather Channel's past include Marny Stanier and Cheryl Lemke.  Alexandra Steele's career with the network, though rather celebrated until its abrupt end, doesn't compare to the longevity of many of the network's former OCMs, very, very few of whom are still with the network.

I agree. She isn't in the sort of iconic category of female OCMs like Lisa Mozer, Jeanetta Jones, and Cheryl Lemke.

Not sure I would put Lisa Mozer in "iconic" territory... She was often embarrassed herself with bumbles & stumbles.  Does anyone remember the "Mexican Sea" incident???

I hope Nicole Mitchell isnt being let go as well.  The other night, she said something like  "This is my last night on Weather Center".   She didnt mention being switched to another show, so we will just have to wait until Monday to see what's up with Nicole.

It seems like TWC has been letting a lot of good people go lately.   It's nowhere near as good as it used to be.

Nicole Mitchell is now a fill-in OCM, just so you know.

Anyways, this just popped up on my facebook timeline:

After many years of service Alexandra is no longer with The Weather Channel. We are grateful for her time on the air and more so for having the opportunity to have worked with her. We wish her the best in the future.

^This was posted as Alexandra Steele's latest status. Looks like any day now we'll say baibai to her facebook page.

Yeah, she already left.. we all already knew that, right?

Oh, I figured she would come back after her case is closed.. well I hope she can find a job elsewhere although it can be hard finding one when you have been convicted of something.

That's too bad. :cry3:

I don't think there's ever been a case in which a fired OCM returned to TWC.

Are we allowed to know more details on what the case was about (like, was it really about Alexandra's lack of attractiveness), or is that out of the question? :dunno:

If it's sealed, then you'll never get to know.

There is no evidence yet that there was actually a case. TWC employees suspected there may be one. I never expected Alex to return which is why I published the information. It is possible TWC settled out of court or a case never developed. There is also still a chance that internally the conflict will continue.

I was surprised to learn of the firing.  I just thoiught you mixed them up once again and I missed her time slot. Personally, I think  she is better off doing weather for some other organization.  The direction in which The Weather Chanel is moving no longer reflects the weather.  Some of TWC "stories" are very far from having anything to do with weather.  If I wanted to see network news, I would watch the network news. Let The Weather Chanel be just that.  Send Al back to the Morning Show and don't do a joint venture here.   Bad move, "Powers That Be"....she was one of the better ones. Bet your ratings go down.

The Weather Channel has now become the Weather, News and Entertainment Channel.
