Ah ha!  Well, may I suggest the LDL font to be normal instead of bold?  If it's the legit font from the original, then I'll go with it :D just not bold (in that instance because it looks chunky).   I like the font used on this video (
Weatherscan XL Emulator - October 30 2007
) but the blue sky/cloud background (of course).

-For the on/off of the LDL, I would suggest the option to have it either on or off in the version build.  It's either on all the time (except the radar/satellite loops) or off...unless an alert pops up, which then overrides everything and displays whether you have the standard LDL selected as on or off.

-Small tweaks on the LDL (if you want)
---When it displays the current condition, could it say "Currently: T-Storm" instead of just "T-Storm"?
---Barometric Pressure says "29.91F In." right now - is it possible to have "29.91" F"  or "29.91in F"?
---Are wind gusts shown when applicable?  i.e. does it say "Wind: ESE 15 G25"? (That's how I would suggest to display it)

I have 3 full themes and a 4th one in the works.  I could send them to you if you'd like.  The zipped files are around 10mb each.  I even cleaned up the moons to look more graphically appeasing like on television.

-I noticed the clock moves up and down between frames.  Could the clock be set to the same coordinates on all slides?  It appears to be different on the regional sat/rad (one I noticed as of now).

-How does the bulletin page work?  Does it automatically jump to that when an alert is issued or is it placed after the title slides?

-Did you rummage through my suggestions on my other thread?  I have just a few!  Haha.  Hopefully you can use them.

-A watch/warning graphic would be sweet...I know many people enjoy just text but I think a combination of the two would be awesome.

-Let me know if you need any graphics or anything for the emulator!

I love it!!  Questions:

1. When the text finishes scrolling (I'm assuming twice through), does it return to the normal LDL?
2. Is it possible to program the name (type) of advisory into the bar text instead of "Non-Precipitation Advisory"?
3. Does the bulletin screen stay until the watch/warning/advisory expires or is canceled?
4. Does the watch/warning/advisory get "bumped" out (replaced) by a newly-issued warning product?
5. Excellent work & great song choice!!!

Awesome Brian! I have a few questions as well.
-Does it have a warning tone for severe weather crawls?
-Can you have the option of having just the weather warnings/watches instead of the main ldl?
-In somewhat response of tuez13's question about the clock, correct me if i'm wrong Brian but could that difference in coordinates on the Regional Satellite page be as simple as it being the only page with anti-alaising on the clock? And if so could you possibly switch all of the pages to have anti-alaising on the clock as it looks much cleaner.

Question 4  I don't receieve warning LDL's because I am directv subscriber but I have seen what are you are talking about in youtube videos.  That's probably one of my favorite features of the actual weatherscan.  Similar program I use inconjucntion with GRLevel3 outputting to my tube TV is WxScroll (freeware premanent watch/warning/advisory LDL, written in java).  You can choose your county or multiple ones and customize which warnings.  Haven't checked in awhile for an update though.  Last time I played with it I saw it go from severe thunderstorm warning but halfway through the bulletin it switched to special weather statement regarding the warning expiring due to the storm falling below severe limits.  Only thing really missing was customizable alert, it uses a windows default sound instead....I had my ws4000, star xl, wsxl, intellistar, and EAS SAME header alert tones ready for use =p

First, to answer all the questions above, for the most part, all of them are yes, except for the anti-aliasing clock, i will try and figure that out. the clock is an ocx i wrote which overlays everything except the regional satellite. the warning scroller will behave (for the most part) just like the real thing (overruling the weather details LDL). the warning scroller will unload in a similar manner as TWC's scroller would (thats if you configure it to do that!).. The bulletin page stays as long as *something* was issued. also, as some of the warning products were not identified in the program, its master product name, like "non precip advisory" was displayed. i have a way to correct that without a problem.

Second, if anyone wants to help me with this.. i am looking for royalty-free background graphics for the following products.
for the coastal waters forecast segment: Bulletin Page (for coastal advisories, etc..), Tides (yea, hate 'em, but i am going to include them.)
new product, summer Outdoor Activity: Map contents background (already have the Up Next menu board frame).
new product, travel weather: Up Next menu board frame, and a Map contents background.

all images must contain no people and capture an element of life and weather.

thanks for any contribution!

I can help with that, since I have plenty of pictures of stuff like that.

i spent all night on this.. btw im not an artist either, so if it looks weird, thats why. this will be apart of the next updates.
you will also be able to select which set of coastal maps you want to use (northeast, southeast, and west)
also note, at some point (soon) the configuration site will be down for some changes to accomidate these updates, and at that point the new copy will be released.

Looks good! I have an image that could be used as the bulletin page for coastal advisories if you want.

Sorry I never checked in here until now, but I appreciate your updates. I do have a few questions and suggestions in mind:

- Did the WSL really have a seperate screen for coastal advisories? I know on the intellistar, the advisories are just posted in the coastal waters forecast.

- As for the LDL, I think an option to turn it on or off is the best idea.

- Also, I'm glad you're looking at implementing travel. Other products I hope to see in the future include Airport and Health.

- I'd also like to see several different background packages for the local forecast, like coastal backgrounds and city backgrounds.

Here is an image I took during last month's tornado outbreak.  Feel free to use it on the bulletin page.

Weatherscan Local - Update Progress - 7/13/2010

I just noticed that the song playing there is one of my favorites from TWC.  Brings back memories.    Would you be willing to share with me, please?  :thrilled:

Attached are some cleaned up moons I made if you would like to add them.

Mike, I am actually not sure how the XL behaved with the coastal advisories, although the way the NWS places them would make me specially make a bulletin page for them. As for the LDL, I was planning to create a few toggles to handle that, along with the possibility to do some crawls and stuff. I know the real XL did 12 crawls, but I might just do a rotation of like 6, more than that would seem useless. Even if the emulator was used for a TV network or whatnot, too many crawls are pointless. as for the background thing for the core LF, i just made a hack using the sunrise/sunset calculations to determine if we are currently in daytime or nighttime. it would allow the emulator to do two things, one is to select the correct haze icon for the current time of day, the second is the potential for the emulator to use a day/night time theme. figured it would be a clever idea to include since its not that hard to implement.

Also, for the first time, I am putting code up, but I need a few people to check my work, in regards to icon mapping, and icon naming. please post corrections!
