The narrations or "vocal locals" were implemented on that version of the XL in March 2000 if I'm not mistaken, but it's possible some XL's might not have gotten that update, but may have gotten it once v2 made it's debut. It happens, not just with the XL, but other STAR units sometimes don't get all the most recent updates either.

I remember getting a newsletter in the mail from The Weather Channel a couple of months before Vocal Local on the XL started.  It was an interesting feature to look forward to.  :)

Why does it make you mad? My recollection is it was introduced on March 27, 2000.

I don't know if the voice over was always planned, but there was another weather channel that was going to launch that summer (Weather Plus, not related to the NBC version). They said their locals would be narrated, similar to what eventually was done with the Intellistar. It was a company in Europe and never ended up launching in the U.S.

Well it's suppose to have narration in 2000-2001 But It does same way as in 1998-2000 That's why i'm mad about that.
