I was just wondering if anyone knew much about buying a weatherstar xl second hand.. If you get one from another state is it possible to log into it via terminal or ethernet and change the Star ID/Headend ID to your local one? Also if someone has one and has hooked it up to the internet does it update the local weather data etc or do you need to emulate or set up some DNS server? Thanks in advance..

You basically have to be a computer expert to even make any sense of it. Very few people who obtained one have the resources to make it work. I have one myself, and I appreciate having the unit, but I haven't been able to do anything with it. I'm holding onto it, however.

What happened when you hooked the Weatherstar cat5 port to your router/internet? Did you wait 24 hrs to update? Maybe someone else who has one working will let us know.. I love weather related stuff and have always wanted to work at the weather channel since I was a young boy when they went on the air..
