Title: Weatherstar XL Problem?
Post by: epzik8 on March 03, 2010, 07:06:05 AM
My cable company's Weatherstar XL in Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania may have a problem. The narration is much louder than the background music. There have also been some narration issues, like on the :18 and :48 LOT8s segments, when they have the three-day extended forecast instead of the forecast for the whole week, Allen Jackson sometimes says "your extended forecast" instead of narrating all the conditions. Also, on the weeklong extended forecast, sometimes there is no narration at all. Is this normal on all the XLs or is it just the one in Fawn Grove?

Regarding the extended forecast, you would hear that narration if either (1) the XL doesn't have phrases for one of the weather conditions shown, or (2) there isn't enough time for the vocal local to read all of the data.

It's likely there isn't enough time for the XL to read the 3-day forecast. It has narration for every possible condition.

As for the narration volume issues, I've always found the volume of the XL's narration to be a bit harsh, and this will be magnified if the volume of the audio feed coming into the XL is a bit low.

Very much so!
