Title: Warning Tone Frequency
Post by: engineer on August 02, 2008, 10:57:41 PM
I have determined that the warning tone is an approx. 585Hz Sawtooth tone that is roughly half a second long.

I had promised to do something like this a while back but never got around to doing it, until now. And no, this isn't a spambot thing.

It says 4000 tone.

Your requesting a lock, eh? Well, you ain't getting one. What you are, however, getting is a warning. And if oyu EVER ask for a lock again you'll be banned.

Have I made myself perfectly clear? Good.

Sorry, not you. One of our members, chris121, made a very ignorant post earlier, though he's evidently since removed it.

Ah, ok. I didnt' know the tone had ever changed from the 4000. Mabye the amount of beeps, but never the tone itself.

It didn't have one. That's why it was decommissioned.

The Weather Chazz on YouTube has the sound in one of his 3000 Emulator videos.

He probably made it himself. The 3000 had no audible tone. If it did, it would still be with us today.

Actually the 3000 DID have have an audible alarm tone. It was s series of very short beeps. The reason why the FCC had a problem with is is because the alert tone only played the FIRST time a warning was displayed. The FCC wanted the alert tone EVERY time the warning repeated, which the 3000 could not do.
