Title: Songs you want to hear again on the LF
Post by: TWCJim on March 27, 2012, 02:54:38 PM
What songs you've heard on the LF in the past would you like to hear again?

Note to the admins: I was unable to find a similar topic, unless I'm wrong. If a similar topic exists, please let me know and post a link to that topic and lock this one  ;)

The only other similar topic is the "Jazz Songs that Should Air on the LOT8s"...at least to my knowledge.

Anyways, from the November 2006 playlist:

 - "Tee Time", "Cadiz Sunset", and "Turn the Page" by Kenny Carr
 - Back at the Chicken Sack" by Joe Jewell Quartet

July/August 2007:

 - "Get Busy", and "Easy Street" by Spyro Gyra

So far, that's it. I may list more as I go.

Jeanne Ricks - Nobody's Fool. I have not heard that song in 11 years, but it was such a catchy song.

I want to hear these songs again:

- "Terminal Frost" and "Marooned" by Pink Floyd

- "After the Storm" by Norman Brown

- "Winged Mammal Theme" by R.E.M.

- "Wait a Minute" by Mark Krurnowski

- "Simple Pleasure" by Jeanne Ricks (the version I heard in May 2005, not the version on the TWC Smooth Jazz CD)

- "Monoliths" by Maserati

- "Hope 4 2day" by Andre Parker

Well, that's pretty much it... for now.

TWC's taste in music has really gone downhill this year (not to mention their organization; the playlists are a mess ), so I'll list some songs I'd like to hear played again:

- Classic Battle (Sam Spence)
- Storm Chaser (Ryan Farish)
- Roundtrip to the Stars (Chris Geith)
- To Thornfield (John Williams)
- After the Rain (Chris Geith)
- Stormy Sea (Matthew C. Shuman)

This summer I'd also like to see Terminal Frost and Plurality (Gooding) to return; they're great songs for summertime, and worked very well in 2009 and 2010. I will say, however that in April 2011 Terminal Frost was quite suited to how it turned out, with the severe thunderstorms and all that.

Absolutely beautiful, Tavores.

I really want to continue hearing songs from Ryan Farish. "Oasis," "Breakthrough," and also music from The Weather Channel's beach music would be nice, too.

I would also like to hear "Take Me Away" by Bickley Rivera, since TWC now likes vocals. That song was played in August 2010.

I'd like to see these two make a return, Boney James's "Butter" and Third Force's "The Gift". There could be no better olive branch to the fans than putting songs like this on the air again, should TWC come to their senses again.

Supernova - Ryan Farish
Tribal - Craig Chaquico
Montana Girl - Gooding (subwoofer heaven)

Those are just a few that I can really think of... I really wish that we could get most of the pre-NBC music back... but we all know that will happen as soon as hell freezes over

Realistically, I think they can bring songs from Ryan Farish. "Groovemension" and "Enchanted" were both great sounding ones in recent times. Wouldn't mind some music from Maserati, either.

I want to hear What I Got and Green Onions again.

"What I Got" by Sublime? Again? That's already aired last September/October and in January/February of this year. Perhaps TWC can finally bear to wait a full year before playing that one again . I will say, though, that I wouldn't mind it airing again.

As for Green Onions, I'd like to hear that one again, too, along with some more from the "classical" jazz genre  :bleh:.

LMAO, you got on my case about wanting to hear "Rattle and Burn" and yet you want to hear that song again which has played a heck of a lot more than "Rattle and Burn".

In that case then I want to hear "Rock Steady" again, instrumental or vocal I don't care which.

Any song from the april 1993 playlist, especially Ancient Dream from Patrick O Hearn

Also Network Music, and in particular Midnight Picnic from EKO from July 94

Ill even take Ryan Farish (boy today's TWC music has gone way far south)

Any song (except heavy metal) that is instrumental, I would take at this point. I also like any of the 4th quarter playlists from 97 and 98, and the December playlists from 00, 04, 05, and 08.

Enough said. Wouldn't mind hearing the vocal version either. Eh, I take back my earlier submission. I would like to hear this one again. I don't know why, but it reminds me of a mix between "Dear Prudence" by Jeff Lorber and "Daydreamin'" by James PJ Spraggins both of which are great songs as well. :D

Wow! I remember hearing that song back when I also had the Xlv1! I went crazy every time I heard that song the beat is amazing :) Do you know if it's available anywhere?

I found his phone number on the BMI repertoire but I do not know how accurate it is.

Pretty much anything on the '03 or '04 playlists would suit me.  If I had to list just five, though, then they would be:

1. As the Crow Flies - Steve Glotzer
2. Steps - John Maellaro
3. Coup De Ville - Gerald Veasley
4. First View - Steve Oliver
5. Tortilla Flat - Ralph Diekemper

Like this is ever going to happen.

I think this song played before, but I'm not too sure. I would like to hear "18" by Moby. Even with the drastic music changes last year, they did still show some love to Moby so I can't see why they wouldn't play this one.

In reality, I would probably like to hear pretty much anything from the 2000-2009 lists.  No joke, it's gotten that bad.  :noexpression:  In addition to those I've already named, though, here are a few more that I liked hearing on the LFs:

6. Birks Law - Spyro Gyra
7. Guyute - Phish
8. The View From Here - Artie Traum
9. The Bridge - Brian Hughes
10. Pacific Coast Highway - Eddie Reasoner

I think 2004/2005 featured the best music overall in this modern era.

I am inclined to agree. Of all music from 2000-2010, I think 2000, 2004 and 2005 are some of the better years for TWC music. I'd say i put in the year 2000 as a transitional year, since a lot of '90s songs aired in 2000, thus giving the 2000 TWC music a "90's feel". So I guess I should say 2004 and 2005 are the best years of all TWC music used between 2001-2011.

If there had of been a Christmas playlist this year, I would have liked for them to use some of the songs they haven't used in years, even decades.

"The Song of the Evergreen" by Kostia
"Asleep the Snow Came Flying" by Tim Story
"The Coventry Carol" & "Good King Wenceslas" by John Nilsen
"What Child Is This" by Peter Buffett
"Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring" by Russ Freeman
"Angels We Have Heard On High" by Kurt Bestor
"The First Noel" by Spencer Brewer
"A Christmas Terrell" by Eddie Terrell
"Good King Wenceslas" and "I Saw Three Ships" by Mannheim Steamroller
"It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" by John Nilsen
"Away In A Manger" by Kenny G
"O Little Town Of Bethlehem" & "Silent Night" by Ficara
"The Christmas Song" by Chet Atkins
"We Wish You A Merry Christmas" by Ottmar Liebert
"Away In A Manger" & "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"by Steve Glotzer
"Steppin Home For The Holidays" by Jeanne Ricks
Michael Colone enough said. :P

There's more, but I'll it at there.

Realistically, they should really bring back either Ryan Farish or Trammell Stark's music or both. Both of them would fit pretty well with the other library of production music.
