Although the Jazz music is great, the point is almost moot.  During longform as well as during WUTV, all we get is local on the 18 - one LF an hour!  Furthermore, you simply can't fit much music, Jazz, production, vocal, whatever, into one minute.

If the 90-second or 2-minute LF were brought back, that would be a much more compelling case for Jazz and/or vocals to return.  This seems unlikely though as TWC has to sell commercial space and eliminating LF's has been an effective way to make more advert time available.  In fact, I have to believe the only reason they keep that one LF an hour is so they can sell a decorated ad background if needed.

Clearly LF's are on the back burner.  The special holiday background LF's are hardly used anymore.  With smart cable / satellite boxes and smartphone apps, local weather is always a click away.  I would not expect anything magical to happen with our Intellistar LF's.

It's been over a week, and still no jazz music yet.  :furious:
I'm probably just impatient but I've been waiting for this since 2012! January 11, 2012 was the last day a jazz song played on lo8s with the exception of March 11, 2016. I have tweeted the producers multiple times and no one wants to speak! They probably deleted all their past songs because they were probably under the impression that they'll never play it again and are now re investing in new music. Which is probably why they tested it. To see if it's a worthy investment. Well a lot took notice. I hope it airs tomorrow but I've been eagerly waiting since last Saturday and the lack of info is driving me crazy!

Well I'm viewing it with a more positive outlook. Its been nearly 3 years since their last graphical update or tweaking. The weather channel announced in September that they are going back to a weather focused agenda. TWC recently added back the air quality forecast and pollen report to the ldl, in January. Something that has been gone for nearly 3 years.  They tested their old music again, sadly for a day, for the first time in 4 years. They seem to be very quiet, on whatever it is that they're doing, other than letting their shows finish their runs, and changing the focus back to weather. I'm looking at it like this, maybe something bigger is going to happen. Maybe they'll make a real change that we can all favor upon. Go ahead and bring on your negative feedback to this but I'm just going to remain hopeful until the day something happens.

I wasn't trying to be negative, just a little impatient because I missed this music and never thought it would come back. Plus I never knew TWC played jazz on Friday until the day after, so I missed that. I will be more patient and wait till April and hopefully they have new songs and not just ones from the smooth jazz album. But that's better than the production one's playing now.

No No No, I did not want to come off that way I was just saying in a like a general sense, not you, I'm right there with you though. "oh you've waited 4 years for jazz to return, ok lets try it for one day and then wait another 4 years before we bring it back or try it again." :)

Secretly, I still haven't forgiven TWC for their 2013 update.

I meant it for people who will come at me with like, oh that will never happen, or TWC is dead move on, etc.

I'm not hopeful they're bringing jazz back. Dave apparently only played it for one of his buddies to notice. It doesn't seem hard to incorporate, but as you can still see, they're quite content with the same production music. In other words, I am not expecting jazz to return in the near future.

Probably because that's not the primary focus of their day and, if larger- scale changes are in the works, they have better things to do...

Well this is my first post here, but I thought this would be something really worth sharing, so I created an account to share this with all of you!
Recently I've been tweeting @daveclark about the return to smooth jazz, and when it will be back.
Last Friday I tweeted this....
Quote
@daveclark A week has passed since TWC played smooth jazz during the LOT8'S, do you have any clue on when we may hear it again? 😇
I got no reply...
I tweeted him again today...
Quote
@daveclark 2 weeks now :(
His reply...
Quote
@Jacobhbartels Fair.  I'll get another one fired up.
Not sure what this means... (Hard to tell with Dave)
But I thought this would be worth sharing non the less!

Well I hope this time it stays on. I want them to regain the music audience they once had. I don't see why they would be so against that. I just listened to an interview with Brian Picard and Ryan Farish and at the time they were ecstatic about the music brand they had. Why can't TWC be about weather and have a music audience? I don't like how we're being teased and @daveclark still seems reluctant about the jazz format. Can't he just hand it off to certain producers, like @WeatherScottT. Frustrating! :nono: I know constantly complaining is not going to help, just need to get this off my back.

He got enough positive feedback about the Jazz the day he played it. I think any additional tweeting would be excessive and likely irritate him.

Well the jazz return would boost my viewership. I'm pretty sure for everyone too. I love it because it gives a little variety to the most repetitive thing on the planet.

The number of people flocking to the channel for the 60 seconds of music played during the local forecast segment is, in all likelihood, so infinitesimally small that it's no skin off their backs to play it, or not to. While it's great to see the channel "warming up" to its fan base in a lot of ways, keep in mind that we represent a very tiny minority of the viewing demographic. The whims and wishes of our little group are not the primary driving force behind the choices of Dave Clark, et al. That they give us an audience and ear at all is more than a lot would do.

You mean their update in November of that year?
