Earlier this evening, I found out via Facebook that Joe Sample, best known for "Carmel", "Oasis", "Miles of Blue (Blue Miles)" and many others is currently hospitalized due to an unexpected illness. Here's the latest post (https://www.facebook.com/joesampleofficial/posts/10151920136524706) from the artist's management on his official Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/joesampleofficial):
Hello all, we (management) are posting on behalf of Joe:
Due to an unexpected illness, the “Joe Sample Trio, with Special Guest - Randy Crawford,” will be unable to perform on October 25th, at the Paramount Theatre, Oakland, CA, as previously advertised.
Mr. Sample was recently hospitalized with what appears to be a severe case of pneumonia. A surgical procedure to remove a build up of fluids in his lung was performed, and Mr. Sample remains hospitalized. Doctors have advised Mr. Sample to undergo an extended period of convalescence before he will be able to resume his professional schedule.
Mr. Sample is unavailable for comment due to the aforementioned “procedure.” Ms. Crawford had this to say: “Our hearts go out to Joe and wish him a speedy and healthy recovery so that we can return to performing together ASAP. I was so looking forward to performing in Oakland at the Paramount. It has been way too long since I’ve visited our fans in the Bay Area, and I love the Paramount. Hopefully we can reschedule something as soon as Joe has recovered.”

That's terrible, I wish him a speedy recovery. I love his songs Spellbound, Born to be bad, hippies on a corner, brother can you spare your car amongst others used on TWC in the past.

Spellbound is kuh-razy kool.
I will pray for him, too.
-
My thoughts and prayers go out to him for a speedy recovery.
I love many of his songs, such as Carmel, Brother Can You Spare Your Car, Black is the Color, etc...

No one mentioned "Rainbow Seeker" yet.. how could y'all not show the IS internal playlist some love? :bleh:
Anyways my thoughts and prayers are extended to Joe and his family to feel better.

My prayers go out to Joe for a full and complete recovery. I was familiar with his work even before TWC, from listening to the now-defunct WSJT 94.1 FM. The IS error turned out to be a blessing in disguise to hear a classic like Rainbow Seeker again. Another memorable song from Joe was Oasis, which I heard quite a bit back in June 2000.

Joe Sample is out of the hospital. But per doctor's orders, he won't be touring in the next 2 months as indicated on his latest Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/joesampleofficial/posts/10151951837414706 (https://www.facebook.com/joesampleofficial/posts/10151951837414706)
