Since the LDL has been introduced in Pittsburgh and Atlanta as beta, I can now reveal a bit if info.
As previously mentioned, its being tested on select Pittsburgh and Atlanta systems, and it's a totally new LDL. It was originally scheduled to go out overnight Monday/early Tuesday AM, but was pushed back due to technical difficulties (unknown to me at this time). It was pushed through successfully early this morning.
About the LDL... it's totally different, in a good way (unless you're expecting another XL-esque transparent LDL). It's blue, and will match the new TWC-HD style. There is no set launch date yet, and I highly doubt it will launch June 2.
Three other HUGE changes to this LDL are:
1) Interstate font goes bye-bye, to match the HD look I assume.
2) The LDL will have the capability to show conditions for 3 cities with larges DMAs/viewership areas.
3) Traffic incidents will now be shown on the LDL. I'm pretty sure the whole incident doesn't show, but rather an abbreviated version (Ie: Incident, I-376 Pkwy East at Blvd of the Allies [what shows on the heading line of the incidents page]).
No, there is no other graphic update to the domestic IS.
The only other change with this release is a bug fix for the wx bulletins screen, where occasionally, the old screen would briefly show before the new one.
Yes the warning bars have changed too, but I have no previews of them, and like I said, have yet to see the LDL in action. So I have no idea what they look like, but I'd imagine they're very similar.
For TWCClassics members... remember when I
asked you to vote on whether or not you wanted more watches shown on the LDL, as Tornado and Severe Tstm Watches already do? This is why... this LDL has the capability to show more watches. The specifics are currently unknown, except Flood/Flash Flood watches will be shown. Others may come in the future.
I have not seen this in person yet, as I'm not home, and won't be til late tomorrow night. I'll *try* to get a pic or two then, unless megamanfan can get them now? Until that point, here are the original mock ups straight out of the TWC Creative Dept. Enjoy.
