I also noticed there were no autumn backgrounds for the satellite LF's.  The exception was at 7:08AM ET and 8:08AM ET, during AMHQ; Those two LF's had the autumn scenes.

This screams apathy on the part of TWC.  These LF backgrounds are obviously in their library and would have cost them ZERO to implement.  For all the noise regarding cut backs of celebrity talent (Al Roker) to save money, simply using the change of seasons to add to the flavor of the programming seems to be a no brainer.

But - - having been a loyal viewer since the 1980's, I see the trend.  TWC will spend a heap of cash to bring in celebrities but will ignore the simple and free (no licensing required) things to make their channel more of a pleasure to watch.

I am a contemporary with ya, been a TWC fan since 1991, but since NBC took over and especially the last four years they have been total #$%$. maybe if they get rid of all longform like they said they would i might be interested again, but not betting on it

I find it interesting that my Charter headend continues to use an IntelliSTAR 1, even though it's now been 5 days after TWC's supposed 'deadline' to replace all IS1s with either the IS2 XD or the IS2 Jr.  Since Astoria and other IS1 headends do have until November 16th to get a replacement unit (as TWC's letter stated) I guess Charter decided they wanted to keep their IS1 up and running a little longer. :P

Well it seems like I'm going to burn tonight. Seems like a nationwide bug.

Seeing that glitch on my still-in-use IS1 as well:

Either it's been fixed, or the one here isn't effected as I just checked.

It was fixed on our I2XD's primary city before the full screen LF at 10:17 last night, but I just so happened to catch the LDL forecast throwing around signs of the apocalypse.

Now that it's November 5th, five weeks after TWC's alleged 'deadline' to replace all remaining IntelliSTAR 1 units, I find it amazing how there are still very few IS1 units left out there including mine.   I wonder what will happen if all IS1 cable headends fail to acquire an IntelliSTAR 2 XD or Jr within 11 days from now, when TWC is supposed to discontinue IS1 service.

Mine was replaced not too long ago... probably about a week ago with an IS2Jr.

Either a local forecast with no report (if they will still be cued, which i doubt) or the satellite LF. I'm sure they will all be replaced though, the affiliates were given plenty of notice.  Also it should be noted that the affiliates are not paying a dime to upgrade their IS1.

I saw LOT8's a few times yesterday and noticed they had it themed for Veteran's Day. They also had the High Wind Warning that's issued for here on it too, which is the first time I've seen a warning on it compared to solely on the LDL

Earlier today I asked TWC's Tech Support about Astoria's still-in-use IntelliSTAR 1, and this was the response that I received from Tony:

Quote
Jim - According to our records, Charter Astoria has already switched over to the I2 star back on 10/12 for the SD service.  The look of the local would not change much, the difference is very slight.

Tony F
Local on the 8's Support

So, it appears that Astoria does already have an IS2, but for some strange reason, I'm still seeing the IS1 feed where I am, across the river in Pacific County.  I'm guessing maybe Charter hasn't switched to the IS2 feed up here yet, but they have already for the viewers down in Astoria and neighboring Seaside. :dunno:

Great to see Tony Fulkerson's still there on the STAR team

You should probably email him back and let him know of your exact city/locale. Chances are, they feed the same STAR to your area as Astoria proper, but there might be a different feed as well to your city.
I've gone off on a journey to be a moderator at another forum, but this place will forever remain home for me~

Astoria's IS1 (#23550) was still alive and well until this morning when it officially went out of service. I'm kinda surprised it lived this long  although it should have been replaced some time ago. But for now, Charter is stuck with the satellite SD feed until they get their IS2 XD or Jr up and running at some point later.

Check out our polling question regarding the WeatherStar you missed the most from Poll-Maker website.
