Title: December 2012 Playlist
Post by: IceManNYR on December 08, 2012, 12:07:52 PM
The songs changed today. Checking 5am-12pm  no Christmas songs added.
I don't like the playlist so far as it's similar to the October/November with to many slow tempo mellow songs mixed in with a few pop and rock songs.

4:58am Blues Traveler "Hook"
5:08am Sarah McLachlan "Sweet Surrender"
5:10am 3 Doors Down "Race for the Sun"
5:28am Taylor Swift "I go back to December"
5:38am The Police "Wrapped Around Your Finger" (1983 Concert version)
5:58am Joshua Radin "Winter"
9:28am The Who "Who Are You"
9:38am Foster the People "Houdini"
10:38am Andy Grammer "Keep Your Head Up"
10:58am Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories "Stay"
11:08am Ryan Farish "Northern Lights"
11:18am Los Lonely Boys "How far is heaven"
11:28am Mat Kearney "Learning To Love Again"
11:38an Lady GaGa "Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)"
1148am The four tops "I can't help myself"
11:58am James Blunt "Billy"
12:18pm Daughtry "Home"
12:28pm Keith Urban "I Told You So"
12:38pm Joshua Sinclair "Circles"

The only instrumental listed there is Ryan Farish's Northern Lights off of his Life in Stereo album. I suspect this list won't last long until the end of next week when the Christmas playlist starts, then this list will resume following it.

Half of those artists I've never even heard of.

Can there be at least a playlist with half-instrumental and half-vocal, or maybe save the vocals for Primetime? Just doesn't make any sense.  <_< I expect the Christmas playlist to be mostly vocal, too.

1148am The Temptations "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch"
I think you mean "I Can't Help Myself" by the Four Tops. Great song!

I wouldn't be surprised if their Christmas playlist consisted of the 20 or so songs that pop stations play every year.

Same here. Since TWC added vocal songs in the regular playlists this year, I'm pretty certain that this year's Christmas playlist will contain vocal songs :itsok:

LOL. Ugh, I HATE that song! I kind of liked it when I was a kid, but after hearing it every 10 minutes as an adult on pop radio, it's somehow lost it's luster.

Really? It's one of those songs that I just can't get out of my head. It really puts me in the christmas spirit as I used to hear it all the time in elementary school. We used to sing that song during a christmas play back in the 2nd grade.

I did not post the evening because playlist it is still using songs from October/November.

...and "I Saw Three Ships" by David Arkenstone.

Hopefully Michael Colone will be back, along with the usual David Arkenstone songs. Did they even have Ice Fairies or Holiday Dance on the playlist last year?

I figured as much. I didn't remember hearing it last year - and didn't pay attention to TWC in 2010. Sad, sad fate TWC is about to take.  :(  Not much to be upset about... if they don't want to listen to their viewer comments, let them take their own path. We planted the seeds, it is their decision on whether or not they'd like to water it.

I don't care what they play as long as they don't play John Lennon's Happy Christmas (who in the world says Happy Christmas besides Harry Potter anyway) or Rockin Around the Christmas Tree. <_<

As for instrumentals, I wouldn't count on anything outside of the mainstream stuff, like Vince Guaraldi, David Foster, and TSO.

If they're going to play vocal music, I hope they play the vocal version of Christmastime is Here.

Reception by Ryan Farish at :38.

I quickly glanced at TWC downstairs at :28 and heard another instrumental at :28 and something at 18 that sounded like 7and5. So far vocal free  :worship:

I have heard a lot more instrumental music for sure. There's 3 or 4 new Ryan Farish songs I have heard so far!

How am I supposed to know?

It looks like TWC may have slipped a smooth jazz song on the overnight :o

Props to TWC on this playlist...best one in a while, by far. I will be extremely pleased if the Christmas playlist remains in the same style as previous years.

Reception is my favorite on the playlist, that's one of Ryan's best works IMO

Also Chris Ball? He must be the composer of that one jazzy piano song then. This list is somewhat reminiscent of the older playlists

That's exactly what I was thinking for the piano song!
I figured this song was Lynn Patrick, it sounds like her music http://www.youtube.com/v/h-k_RbRiDAk
but when I listen to the preview on Amazon, it sounds nothing like it.

Sweet Surrender is a vocal song, so I didn't upload it. I think you meant Sweet Acceptance.  :P  I wasn't able to catch a clip of Reception before the Christmas list started/

No, not quite. I heard a new country sounding instrumental at 1:08, and 1:58 was a vocal song Collide by Howie Day
