Title: 1998 Playlists Missing?
Post by: Localonthe8s on May 16, 2012, 10:53:46 PM
Does anyone have copies of the Q1-Q3 1998 playlists? I can only seem to find the April, July and October 1998 playlists. Didn't they use quarterly, rather than monthly lists? I remember a few songs by Brian Hughes and Chris Camozzi  as well "Hummingbird" by George Winston but I don't see them in those 1998 playlists. Anyone can help?

I'm sure I have 1st quarter around somewhere. I'll look for it.

For whatever reason they never issued a list with the correct songs for 1st quarter 98. That list ended on March 9th with WeatherScope becoming WeatherCenter on March 10th and all new intro videos beginning on that date.

The 2nd quarter list added and subtracted songs in the first month or so, so the list I received didn't include those songs.

Thanks guys. Do you happen to have a copy of whatever songs you recognize playing during those periods then?

Concentric Eyewall had plenty of 1998 clips up at one point.

Q 1-3 1998 playlists. Have the 4th quarter, can post that too if you'd like.

Correction to TWC playlists: Q-2 & Q-3 were mixed up when issued. Q-3 was quarter 2 and Q-2 quarter 3.

Here's the 1st and 2nd quarter 1998 lists I put together. For the 2nd quarter, the George Howard songs were added in late March, Brian Savage's cd was released on April 21 so those songs appeared after that time. The George Winston songs appeared in late April (I think) and played through May (the cd was advertised on-air). There's video of the Incognito song around April 10th, not sure when it was added.

Discovered Bryan Savage's cd on the old Borders.com website in June 1998 (it was on the front page). That Incognito song was played on the radio here. Don't recall how I found Chris Camozzi. Not sure what the deal was, but some of the songs from the 4th quarter 97 to 2nd quarter 98 didn't seem to play much, or I just wasn't watching/recording when they were on (think they removed some of the non commercial songs from the 2nd quarter list when the new songs were added).

"Rainy Days" by Trammell Starks was also on the 2nd quarter... WeatherStar 4000, JFK, 6/1/1998 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQJ5Pfal9pY#)

The Incognito song L'Arc En Ciel De Miles played pretty frequently, and it was played on the local smooth jazz station too. Bryan Savage's songs were played heavily on Saturday mornings particularly in the 7am hour. But I agree some of the songs indeed did not play much. For instance, I remember Gota's song All Alone playing a couple of times, but it was only for one day.

Deep Blue/Rainy Days played all four quarters as a local and/or ETF.

They ran a separate list back then at night for the extended travel forecast and those songs also played on the local forecast (as in the Trammell song above).

Do you have a playlist for that (or at least an unofficial one)?
