I am on a comcast system west of pittsburgh and I was curious as to when my area would see the intellistar 2?

Probably not for awhile since the last update there were compatibility problems between TWC and Comcast which is preventing areas from getting the IS2.

I don't think I've ever found out what those "compatibility issues" are.
I know Comcast is among the worst offenders among cable companies with channel compression. Perhaps that interferes with how the IntelliStar 2 would receive/transmit information? Or... perhaps Comcast just uses a lot of non-standard/proprietary equipment?
I really do feel sorry for those with Comcast - one of the earliest cable companies to show the HD feed, but dead last when it comes to adopting the IS2. After having the IS2 available to me for the past couple of months, I certainly don't want to go back to not having it.

I don't believe that B.S anymore, that's probably just an excuse to not have to cop up money to pay for it. I didn't think much about it at the time, but if Comcast was/is having compatibility issues then how in the world were they able to beta test the IS2 with virtually no problems in the Nashville, TN area in a market that's being served by Comcast?! :doh:

Comcast is one of, if not the, largest cable company in the U.S. I'm certain money isn't a problem if they wanted to buy IS2 units.

I didn't say money was a problem for them, I know they have plenty of that. I said they probably don't want to spend money on the IS2. That's two different things, I'm basically saying they're being frugal.

Don't forget that this was actually the first ever i2HD unit that was commissioned in your screencap from the Nashville, TN area :thumbsup:

Anyways I have to disagree with this. It could be bandwidth reasons as to why they dont have the i2HD yet, or perhaps there are more Xfinity headends than existing units.

It could be because they're lazy and obviously don't care. "At Comcast, we care about the customer," yeah right :rolleyes:

if it's a bandwidth issue Massachusetts is going all digital cutting all analog cable on April 10th and the final phase in mid May so after both cuts there shouldn't be an excuse as to why the IS2 isn't in the state.

I just wish they would get it soon. Tired of turning to HD feed to see national forecast instead of local forecast. Don't even watch hd feed anymore since it's pointless without the local forecast

or maybe the i2HD does not work with the stacked headends that comcast has in some big areas.

There are no bandwidth issues if the cable company is carrying TWC HD. If they aren't then there certainly could be. For you naysayers there was a legitimate issue with Comcast. I don't believe it was with every Comcast head but select ones that had upgraded their equipment. I forget the long and complicated reason why it didn't work but there were incompatibilities with the IS2 and the Comcast upgraded equipment. Has the issue been fixed? Who knows.

Xfinity Massachusetts has been trying to get the IS2 but hasn't gotten any answers yet.
only reply i got on the issue was "I’ll certainly pass along information to our affiliate team that works with Comcast."

The reply was from Melissa Medori and the person trying to contact TWC is Comcast Boston Director of Public Relations Marc Goodman.
