Title: Weather Alert Scrolls and Bulletin
Post by: TWCToday on October 25, 2008, 06:54:09 PM
The WeatherScan XL emulator uses a special third party program to receive pushed alerts from the National Weather Center. Using the data from this program, the emulator can create weather alert scrolls and a weather bulletin slide. This software is called Weather Message. It's not just only good for the weatherscan program, its also good to recieve all the weather messages from your area.

This program however is not free. You will have to purchase the "Weather Message for 1 server Includes Server, Message and Map Clients - 50 Connections" package from wxmesg.com There is however a trial for 30 days so you can see if you like the program and if its worth the $45 to purchase it.

Disclaimer: Neither I nor anyone else on this project receives any kickbacks from this software. This is OPTIONAL software and the emulator will run fine without it.

More details as well as a step by step guide to set up the program will be released soon.

(dont mind my comical-ness with the message, the software used allows for making your own NWS messages for testing sake)

instead to type a big discussion, ill make points of updates:
-currently supports the severe thunderstorm watch/warning ldl display
-plays warning tones.
-shows headline text on "bulletin" frame (if available)
-within 10 seconds of a NWS issued message, emulator will display ldl
-the ldl and bulletin elements will be kept alive for the entire life of the message, until expired or cancelled.
-will change text if an updated text is made

todo: the rest of the warning/watch/advisory messages, should be easy from here on out. also will add routine to prevent the emulator from crashing on internet failure. (thinking of temporarly stripping the upnext playlist to nothing and playing a special music playlist until data is available again).

Are you serious? I hope so for his sake. If not I hope he keeps his comments to himself since he doesnt seem to know what the hell he is talking about

On another note the alert feature will be working in the next version
