Long Island, August-September 2012 tornadoes, Hurricane Sandy, Blizzard of 2013, how many places on Earth do you know can get all 3 of those events within a 6 month period?

79°F, Cloudy. There were some small thundershowers in the area earlier, but we didn't get much from that.

A very humid and muggy night tonight, partially to blame because of heavy tropical downpours along with plenty of lightning/thunder late this afternoon. Some areas north of us picked up between 2-4 inches of rain today! :o FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT.

78° Mostly Cloudy

So far this month we've had just a trace of rainfall. I really hope this dry pattern comes to an end soon, as every month so far this year has been below average as far as precipitation goes. The dry ground certainly plays a good role in this heat too. :pinch:

Reported at Downtown Dallas...holy cow!!!

83°F Blowing dust squalls/windy

Winds: NE 31 mph gusting to 52 mph

This is a result of an outflow boundary ahead of the thunderstorms moving southwest through the Metroplex.

Andy, out of curiosity, where are you getting that observation from? I can't find it at any of the Dallas area airports.

That observation came out of Dallas Love Field, which is practically next to Downtown Dallas (so the observations are usually the same).  This was according to the hourly ASOS station update by the NWS.  Check their website HERE, and you may still be able to see the observation.  They update at :53 past the hour.  If you can't see it, check the 3-day history.

DFW airport reported squalls and windy at 7:53pm, as well.   Winds there gusted up to 44 mph, according to the ASOS station at the airport.

EDIT: Zach, depending on what website you checked the data from, it could have given you a different observation.  For whatever reason, some websites such as AccuWeather and Wunderground did not show these observations for the airports at that time.

Dats odd, because Wunderground updated the ob at KDAL by the time you posted to light rain!

Must have posted a little too late, then. :P  Basically, I was just trying to point out the strong wind gusts that were being reported as a result of the outflow boundary.

77 and Mostly Cloudy. Some isolated thunderstorms possible tomorrow, mainly in the overnight hours.
