Windows Movie Maker 2.6 Help
« on: January 01, 2010, 07:24:17 PM »
Hi all,

I am running Windows 7 and I can't get mpeg-2 files to import into Movie Maker.

I installed the proper decoders that allow me to import them as I've gotten it to work on Vista with MM 2.6 and they imported fine.

I installed the decoder on 7 and they're listed in the MM options, but they aren't doing their job. <_<

So this means no more TWC videos for a while. :(

Any help is appreciated. :)

Zach, I have this problem, too. I installed the ffdshow codecs, and that still didn't help importing the MPEG-2 files from ym WinTV tuner in Movie Maker 2.6.

I had to install Movie Maker 6.0 (the Vista version, which IMO is better than 2.6) from this site, and importing MPEG-2s works just fine now.

I like Vista's MM, but why I can't use it is because it saves files as 25 MB as where 2.6 saves them at 8 MB with the same quality, and I can't make TWC HD videos because Vista's MM doesn't "squash" 4:3 recorded videos into 16:9, unlike MM 2.6.
