Title: WeatherNation
Post by: brbjambajuice on July 06, 2011, 09:11:38 AM
The WeatherNation stream is back up at http://www.filmon.com/#WeatherNation (http://www.filmon.com/#WeatherNation)

The stream is now high def, but it could use some work, could it not?

Anyways, I started this topic for those who want to discuss WN.

LDL needs severe work. Way too crowded.

It looks like this to me

"Memphis  Temp:76Dewpoint:46Humidity:48%Winds:6MPHNNE"

Too small and crowded. I could do better than that! OCMs need more work. Graphics aren't bad. But come on, they're VIPIR.

One of the OCMs looks like a teacher I had in elementary school. xD

LOL! With the so little viewers they get I'm surprised they were able to go HD. And they STILL didn't fix that impossible to read text and 1x1px icons!

LOL, the OCM that is on right now mispronounced Hillsborough County (Zach's county) as "Hillsbarrel County" LOL

Yeah, their LDL could use a little more reworking, especially their icons. They need to enlarge them a little.

I do applaud their efforts though.

Title: Re: WeatherNation
Post by: brbjambajuice on July 08, 2011, 06:45:34 AM
Hmm... Their website ( http://weathernationtv.com/ (http://weathernationtv.com/) ) had somewhat better icons and a whole lot better of a design.

The LDL though, for gods sake, it's like WN came from China! You like it that small? Please, make use of the white space!

However, very good job with the efforts, and if they can fix that along with a couple other things, that would make them a possible competitor, but the best thing I see from them is their website, ad free too.

I've been watching their forecast online on and off since they started. They are doing a great job for what they have to work with! I'd like to see them continue and grow. Some of their meteorologists shouldn't really be on camera though.
Title: Re: WeatherNation
Post by: Mike M on July 08, 2011, 02:08:52 PM
A lot of the meteorologists there get off task a lot, and they really need to look at the camera once in a while.

Your face when Sunday is actually thunderstorms.

Appreciate the input!

Our developers have already begun work on the LDL to improve it. We have already taken away the transparency of it and will be increasing the icon/font size very soon. In addition, we will also be including some additional data such as severe weather warnings.

The radars/graphs are being overhauled as well to increase the size of the data being displayed on the screen.

We truly appreciate your support and taking time to provide us with your comments. Rest assured, we are listening!

They really do listen.

:hmm: It's been nearly four days since WeatherNation said they were getting a new "lower third system". They said it would do neat effects. I guess that's being delayed but on the other hand, they're supposed to be coming out with a mobile app, which ill definitely try out, and if its ad free and features a nice radar, I think it will replace my TWC one!

Just announced a couple hours ago, WN is now streaming online via their Facebook page (via Ustream).  You can check out the Ustream here: WeatherNation TV (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/wntv#)  and their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/WeatherNation (https://www.facebook.com/WeatherNation)  I figured you'd want to see!

I'm really impressed with the WeatherNation setup so far, back when I first saw it, I was not so impressed. If they can land a spot on Dish Network and perhaps install regional units for cable headends, we could be seeing this as a direct competitor to TWC>

We just got Weathernation in the Fond Du Lac/Milwaukee area on Monday.  The local LDL, Radar and Local Forecast all worked on Monday. On Tues, the LDL and radar got stuck on Monday night’s conditions and forecast and I’m not seeing the local forecast anymore. It’s still not fixed this morning.   How do go about contacting them, or is someone on here that knows someone at weatrhernation?

Thanks!

We just got Weathernation OTA on Monday. We now have 3 local weather channels! plus TWC!!!  Nice!!

Who runs the LDL's Weathernation itsself? or the center on Fond du Lac?

WeatherNation TV has been launching over the air through affiliates nationwide.

Also, is anyone else having problems with the stream on their website frequently lagging? The site is cluttered with ads, thus lagging the stream. I used to watch the Filmon stream but that requires a paid subscription now.

The only station here that would probably carry it is PHL 17, since they are the only non-O&O here. That's one of the things
that sucks about living in a major city, you get  mostly O&Os, meaning stations with less freedom. And I doubt the big 3 networks
would be interested in carrying WNTV.

I read about that.  I like to keep up with what happens on Boston TV since I've left.

I wish the Orlando market would get it, too, especially since we have NO weather digital substations anymore.  We used to have to, then one changed to MeTV, and, very recently, one changed to the Spanish language Mega TV.

We really need a constant source of weather in central Florida, and we just don't have one anymore.

Technically I have this channel on what USED to be that Accuweather channel I mentioned here a year ago. (I've had it for months actually...)

It's channel 211 on Comcast here, ironically one channel below Weatherscan (ch. 212) which also to add to the irony I can't watch because it's only available on a higher digital cable tier package that I don't have.

Checking the WXNation Facebook page right now, and the overall consensus is: "I'm leaving TWC and its long-form programming and turning to WeatherNation. It's what TWC used to be." They're also saying that some TWC OCMs should move to WeatherNation.
Title: Re: WeatherNation
Post by: Metarvo on December 18, 2013, 04:08:11 PM
It's showing up on my DirecTV.  The LF (although in a national form) even has "Joy to the World" playing.  Just imagine, instrumental Christmas music on a local forecast.  I'll be keeping an eye on this one.  If they don't do longform, then it may be the only weather network that I watch on weekends.

As much as I like their network their newly redesigned site is atrocious. Way too much going on and half the links don't seem to work. The stream also doesn't work right; while the middle of watching a segment it seems to randomly play a bumper or opener then takes me to the middle of a different segment. <_<

I have the WeatherNation feed from Lynchburg, VA on my ABC provider.  It's slowly getting better compared to when I first saw it although the local forecast still needs major refinement on my end.  I actually get a taped segment with one of the local ABC meteorologists for the first part before a brief second part that shows a couple maps and plays music.

Kinda funny reading that interview and how positive and optimistic it is concerning WN's future, yet you read the comments and they're mostly negative towards WN.

Something I noticed the other day was instead of showing their own LF, they showed a LF from our NBC affiliate which was several hours out of date anyway. It was pointless, why would I want to see an update from my local NBC station that was probably recorded in the morning when it's actually late in the afternoon/evening? I would prefer they not show our local news affiliates at all and show their own forecast instead.
