Title: Virus Protection Programs
Post by: Localonthe8s on April 21, 2008, 09:05:03 PM
WHich virus protection program is good?

Avast? Norton Internet Security? McAffe?

I have Norton so far and I really don't like the program for the reasons:

Too much money for a subscription

Everyday I get popups saying I need to download a scan even though there's nothing wrong

The unnecessary daily scans take like 2 hours to complete.

Even after I complete the scan it STILL keeps asking me to run another scan!

Don't need one, I'm on a Mac!

On my PC's I use Norton Internet Security 2005, that my dad got for free a few years ago. I also use Kaspersky in rare occassions.

I honestly don't know if they are any different, other than virus updates.

I would suggest either AVG Anti-Virus or Panda Anti-virus. AVG is0-- free, and both are very light. IOW, they aren't the major resource hogs that the other AV suites can be.

The only way a person could find out there not seeing the above post, is if the person blocked/ignored the above poster. I don't see a reason why Logica would ignore anyone's posts though.

Anyways does Avast crash/take a long time to install updates? I had to stay up until 2 am to install first time for Norton Systemworks.

Avast has never crashed in my experience using it (about two years of use).
