Post by: Zach on July 21, 2008, 08:21:20 AM
I've already posted this at Taiganet, but:

Yesterday, I finally got a TV Tuner and was wondering if I could have any help on setting it up.
I have one of those wireless remote control Pinnacle TV Tuners from Circuit City.
I'm also running on Vista ServicePack 1

Try uninstalling the the drivers and everything. This could be a problem with the encoder

Do you know how to do that from Windows Vista?

P.S.- I don't have Administrative rights.

You would do the same thing on Vista as you would in any other OS.

Huh? You don't have to search for anything. To uninstall it just go to your control panel, click on "add or remove programs," find your tuner software and click the "remove" button.

Then it probably wasn't installed correctly. Try installing it again.

Yeah - but what you said about it being the "encoder" - thats the part that makes no sense.

Chris, is your tuner working yet? Uninstall it and reinstall it. It was not  installed properly

No. Not yet.

Btw, do you know how to make Youtube videos (even emulators) without using the &fmt=18 trick to be in high quality?
Title: Re: TV Tuner Help
Post by: Localonthe8s on July 22, 2008, 11:34:46 AM
You import the clips in Movie Maker and save them in high quality like at the bitrate that the video is already in when saving. Emulator clips never show that option.

The only videos I have that show the high quality option are the ones that I recorded with the WinTV HVR 950

OK. I just uploade a video within the last 10 minutes shown here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKjwvlWYZpQ&fmt=18

I couldn't get the &fmt=18 trick going but it's working now.

Back On Topic:

Does anyone have a link to get the remote to work in Media Center, and something that allows you to pick up digital subchannels and analog channels in Media Center? The tuner runs fine through MC. The fine print is the problems listed above.

So the tuner is now working?

You'll need to use a coaxial cable and connect it to the receiver. You cannot get TWC on the antenna.

Post by: Zach on July 22, 2008, 01:56:24 PM
I have to run it through Media Center, which only uses digital tuning.

is it an internal PCI or external USB tuner?

You have a pinnacle tuner right? I have two three tuners including one of those. The Ultimate one is designed to be plug and play. The reason you never found the software in the add remove programs area is because nothing is installed.

"The digital TV tuner and personal video recorder software run directly from the Stick's on-board flash memory, so you can plug it into any computer and start watching and recording TV in seconds - no installation required. "

This applies only to the Ultimate stick. Is that the model you have? Also why dont you post your issues here:

You might find more help then at weather forums.

Take a break, Vic. Your just asking questions just for the sake of asking questions.

I was just asking those questions to see what I can help Chris with. I don't want to say "Take out the card and clean it and put it back in" for a USB tuner...

You don't want to say that with a PCI tuner either.

We're doing a test to see if it will run on my mom's laptop. Then return the other one and keep one.
