Title: TV to computer
Post by: twcclassics on April 27, 2014, 11:21:40 PM
Is there an easy way to get screenshots and video from your TV to your computer? Maybe though WiFi? The last time I attempted this was about a decade ago, and that was going from a VHS tape to my computer. The process was such a pain (I purchased multiple devices trying to find one that worked at least most of the time) that I gave up. I was kind of hoping that technology had progressed by now, and the process wasn't such a pain.

TV Tuner? You could also purchase a slingbox and set it up with your home cable system. You'd be able to record video/images as long as you have an internet and cable connection

You still need one of those clunky TV tuner cards? Ugh. The slingbox looks promising, but I don't see anything on their site about capturing video or images from TV.

You use the at large recorder to record the stream. It comes separately. And you don't need a card, you can get a cheap USB tuner stick for around $50 from wintv or pinnacle. Does the job.

I'm satisfied with my Pinnacle 801e HD USB stick. Very small... just plug it into a cable line and it works.

The other expensive option is the Slingbox, and TiVo also does the job. Issue with TiVo is that it's expensive, and you have to pay a monthly service fee.

I'd go with a USB TV tuner. I love mine.
