Just saw the end of the game and they're celebrating at the Igloo...

The Pittsburgh Penguins are in the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 16 years with a 6-0 Game 5 victory
over the Philadelphia Flyers. They will face either the Detroit Red Wings or Dallas Stars for the right to win
the National Hockey League's coveted prize.

It'll be the Red Wings. No way the Stars will come back from a 3-0 deficit. There simply isn't enough gas left in their tanks.

Don't underestimate the Stars since they have the momentum right now and going back to Dallas but being a PGH fan I hope the Pens take it in 6 games

Yeah, but this time of year, most NHL players don't even accept being physically tired.
What makes the difference in winning and losing is having enough left in the tank mentally.

The Stars may have won the last two games, but the Red Wings in my mind won't lose four straight.
I cannot see that happening. One way or the other, Detroit should close this out.

And as far as the Penguins are concerned, if there is one team that can stop them in their tracks,
it is the Detroit Red Wings. Experience usually wins out over youth. Pittsburgh may be hot right now,
but think about whom they just defeated. The Flyers are obviously not as good as the Penguins
and ultimately that became fact this afternoon. The Ottawa Senators were completely overmatched
due to injuries and a goalie controversy to boot.

I know it's like comparing apples to oranges, but look at what the Boston Red Sox did in '04 to reach the Series...they won four straight after being down 0-3...so it's not completely out of the picture.

Probably won't happen, though.

It's only happened twice in NHL history where the 1942 Maple Leafs and 1975 Islanders did it.

Meantime...

The Boston Celtics survive a playoff series that went to the limit (and I hate that fact!) and move on
to the Eastern Conference Finals after their 97-92 Game 7 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
They face the Detroit Pistons for the right to go to the NBA Finals.

That little factoid is why I said it wouldn't happen again. its very highly unlikely.
