Sirens (Tornado/Fire/Outdoor Warning)
« on: January 18, 2009, 07:29:05 PM »
One of My friends lives in a house with a Federal Signals 2001 tornado siren literally on the other side of the street.

One way to possibly make your eardrums start ringing

What siren is closest to your location.

Well, there's a fire station 4 blocks up the street and when the siren goes off, it gets really really loud and it tends to wake me up sometimes  :club:

There are no tornado sirens in my area since we rarely get tornadoes in NJ

The one that's 150 feet from my house. It's LOUD!!! Scares the shit out of me every time, too. Specifically, it's an Allertor 125 made by ACA. Rarer version of the model, in that it's single toned (most are dual-toned).

I should have a pic online somewhere....

I was at Handels ice cream in Toledo one time and the clouds were really looking ominious.

All of a sudden a siren in a schoolyard across the street went off. IT WAS REALLY LOUD!!!

At first most of the people there including me and my family thought is was a fire siren but then discovered that it was a tornado siren.   Everyone including my family and I were running towards our cars/vans/etc to get out of there.

Siren: Federal Signals 2T22/3T22   didn't know what exact model but I know it was one of those two models.

Do they (Toledo) still have those?

The one that I saw in the schoolyard across the street from Handels in Toledo, Ohio is still there to this very day and it definitely works.

I think there's one up in Orting, kinda far away, for if Mt. St. Helens blows. There might be one closer that I don't know about because if the mountain blows a certain way, I could be screwed in the valley.

Now that I remember

The fire station in Temperance Michigan (Bedford District 1 FD) that I've been by a few times has a Thunderbolt 1000/1000T or 1003 as its siren

The nearest siren near my house is a P-50 which is about a quarter mile away at the municipal building.

The siren in use at the near-by Bedford District 2 FD in Lambertville, Michigan is a Weird one.

I think its a Federal Signals 500/Federal 500

Where I am, my neighborhood is right smack dab in the middle of 2 sirens.

The one near North Lake College is an FS EOWS 612 siren, and another one at Irving Fire Station #11 is a FS 2001.

My hometown had all EOWS 612 sirens, but the replaced most of the Valley Ranch district ones with the 2001s.
