Post by: Gil on May 14, 2008, 05:41:28 PM
Today is the 10 year anniversary of the last episode of Seinfeld.

Wow, it's been ten years already? I actually remember watching the last episode when it aired.

It's hard to believe that its been that long already. Still seems like only yesterday.

I've never understood the appeal of Seinfeld.

It's a show about nothing! ;)

Me either. Don't get me wrong, it had its moments, but I'd hardly call it hilarious. I also never understood why people loved Kramer so much. He wasn't that funny. He was the Robin Williams of the cast (tried too hard to be funny) IMO. Kind of like Joey on Full House.

:o  Kramer was the best fricken character!

Kramer was the best fricken character!
People who love the show always say that and I don't get it. All he did was dress weird, make goofy noises, and fumble around. How is that funny? :hmm:

Matt, I so agree with you!

I didn't think the show was that funny, to be honest.

I don't find Seinfeld funny at all

Kramer certainly had his hilarious moments.

The show itself had a different sense of humor. If no one found it funny, it never would've lasted 9 seasons.

I loved how Jerry always had a Mac on his desk. I can think of at least 4 different models through the years. :P

You got it!  That's why it's funny! :)

For those who don't understand the comedy of Kramer (Matt, Tyler): what isn't funny about a guy whose pretty much a total goofball?  I mean, what could be funnier than a guy who lives to make a fool of himself?

The thing is, there are virtually no words to describe Kramer. He is simply, Kramer. :P

Maybe I will upload some clips from the DVD's this weekend.

I've seen enough Seinfeld to think that Kramer is the funniest thing about the show.  Him and I are a lot a like, in terms of bad hair and spazz attacks.     But I can't stand George, I can't stand Elayne, and Jerry was just boring.  Newman was okay, probably because he wasn't in a lot of episodes.

I don't doubt that a lot of people found/find the show hilarious. I'm just saying that "I" never found it all that funny and couldn't understand what was so "hilarious" about Kramer. And I've seen numerous episodes, so I'm not just saying this to play the devil's advocate. I think the main problem I always had with the show was that none of the characters were likable. Dave Schwartz, for example, is very likable. Which makes his goofy antics funny. Kramer wasn't very likable. And there really wasn't anything behind his antics. He was just trying to be funny. And when you "try" to be funny, you loose me. Elaine was a b*****. George was a loser. Jerry was boring and way too picky w/women. Newman was alright. As was Putty (Elaine's boyfriend for a handful of episodes). George's parents were the least likable of the bunch. Which is weird b/c I loved Jerry Stiller in King Of Queens.

You see, Seinfeld is like the NY Yankees you either love them or totally hate them.

Ummm... I can remember an SE/30, TAM, Quadra/Centris 660AV, and a Power Book Duo/DuoDock. The best part was that he had Windows and office boxes on his desk

It's nice to meet fellow Mac fans!

I always found that part amusing. There would be a Mac sitting on his desk, then a Windows NT 4 box sitting right next to it.

Edit, I suppose he could run NT4 on a Mac. There was a PPC version of it.

Nope, 1000% impossible. It has nothing to do with the processor, but with the Macintosh ROM (in 68k and EARLY PPC models) and the Open Firmware (in Most PPC's). There was a DOS card for many Power Macintosh models, that literally added a PC-type processor (numerous types) and RAM, so you could run DOS or Windows at the same time as the Mac. I have a cool YouTube commercial of it.

But yea, that was kind of weird.
I have to say, the TAM was/is the coolest Mac ever built! I want one, but they go for over $500 and only have 225-ish processor, and 128 Max RAM!

I don't think the PPC version of NT would work on a Mac due to the Mac Firmware, he could have a PC compatibility card or Virtual PC

Hey I know we are getting so off-topic but you are such a mac buff, I just want to know how many and what kind of macs do you have. I gave away my classic macs to my friend but I have a G3 Blue and White tower (hosts my TWC HD website), a G4 Cube (my sister uses), an aluminum 2GHz iMac (my main editing machine), and a 15-inch MacBook Pro (mobile Final Cut powerhouse)

I've always been kinda  :hmm: about Seinfeld. There are parts that are funny, but sometimes it can get annoying for many of the reasons Matt elaborated on.
