SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.

Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.
One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.

How is "ho ho ho" offensive to women?

They say it may be offensive because "ho" is a slang term for a prostitute. IMO it's just a case of political correctness gone completely crazy, and it's highly, HIGHLY unlikely for children to make that connection
-
I feel the same way. And I know "ho" is a very offensive word. I have no idea why Santa uses that word. But probably it is offensive. I really don't know
-
Just when you thought people couldn't get dumber.
-
How is that offensive to women? Unless you ARE a ho, I wouldn't be worried about it. My gosh
-
Gee, and how long has Santa been saying Ho Ho Ho now?

I don't think so. He/she (it?) seems to be offended by the slightest things, however...

I know. I was just making fun of the fact that you asked us to "see you" which has other connotations than what you were intending. :P

I'm sure Facebook gets blocked by schools/hospitals/etc. too. ;)
-
not really. a lot of people (that I know of) can access it directly, or find a loop hole.

I'm sure MySpace has loopholes too.
-
with out a doubt, though facebook has more. IMO. a lot of the loop holes we found last year for myspace were blocked over the summer, so myspace is totally blocked out of our school system, for good. until someone finds another loop hole...which I'm almost sure will be pretty soon.
-
You're saying Facebook is better than Myspace because his particular hospital blocked Myspace?
-
Myspace is also blocked out of my schools computer system, but facebook.. you can do whatever you want. I prefer facebook over myspace. A lot more organized

What do you mean myspace has loopholes? In fact what's a loophole?

Meaning it's not impossible to get to the site..there is a way that has to be figured otu
-
Krishnan, a loophole is a way around something.
