Forecasts will gradually begin transitioning from UPPERCASE to mixed case next month.

Does that mean that the text of their severe weather warnings will be in lowercase letters too?

Based on articles I've seen it's only for the forecasts. This leaves the fate of the 4000 sim in question though. I know it's prepared to convert mixed case to uppercase but NWS also seems to be doing away with ellipses in favor for commas and other formatting, which I'm not sure if Bill and the team were aware of...

Was this really a problem for people? I mean, the average person doesn't get their weather forecast from the NWS. And I doubt anyone that does was offended by the uppercase text.

Probably not, but I think it's just a matter of the NWS wanting to change. Like it mentioned in the article, they've been looking into making this change well back in the 1990s when the internet/email began to take off.

If it helps any, each individual NWS office will have the option to still use uppercase to emphasize urgency/alertness for warnings.

I actually liked it when the NWS had their forecasts in all caps. It was easier to read and more attention grabbing, IMO.

I feel the same way, which is why I'm not crazy about the change.

I too didn't mind the NWS's all-caps text, but still, it does make a lot of sense as to why it has been that way for many years. I wonder if the scrolling text messages on TWC (also in all-caps) would also be affected by the change.

I'm seeing the warnings are still in all caps. I'm glad the forecasts aren't anymore.
