Well by all means, they should do whatever it takes. It IS legal for them to confiscate it if they have reason to believe your breaking the law. If you don't want your precious phone taken away, then do the smart thing and don't talk/text while driving.

again...THEY CAN'T. unless they have a warrant. it's part of your property.

it doesn't matter if the officer believed you were breaking the law. a warrant has to be issued to be allowed to go through your phone...meaning if it's confiscated, it's of the human nature to go through it.

My old school bus driver I noticed almost always drove while talking on a cell phone, which is kind of scary. And, this bus is an 84 passenger rear-engine bus, so it's actually a bigger bus to operate than a conventional school bus. It's kind of ridiculous when a professionally trained driver feels the need to talk on his cell phone while taking many children to and from school. <_<

Yes, but if your using it and breaking a law, they can. That's like if you shot someone, they can/will take your gun. Exact same thing.

The bottom line here Al is that many accidents can be avoided by paying a little more attention to the road and a little less to the phone. Maybe you'll change your outlook when someone you know gets killed by someone talking and driving. And don't think it can't happen, because the chances of it happening are damn good.

Most phones keep track of when calls are placed and/or received. You should check yours out, Surely it does too.

I agree with you 100%. Al, you obviously can't understand the seriousness of this. I know someone who was killed in an accident by someone who was too busy talking on a cell phone while driving. While it may not occur to you, hundreds or maybe thousands of these accidents happen every single day. And it can be prevented 100%

84 passengers? The buses here don't hold nearly that much (they hold about 50-55).

it can easily be deleted as well...americans now-a-days cheat their way around these things. this is what i'm trying to point out.

i'm not against it...so gil don't even start with me and seriousness.

The rear-engine buses here do (we only have a few of them in the district, though), however, the regular buses hold about 60 or so.

as easily as it is to be pulled over and the time it takes for the officer to walk up to your car, that is plenty of time to get rid of the last call / text message AND put your phone away.

I think that we should just sum it up by saying that Al's against responsibility in its entirety.  :P
