Not sure why we'd want to discuss that on a TWC forum....

With the acquisition of TWC by NBC Universal, we might as well discuss it. KXAS-TV here in Dallas/Fort Worth has it on Channel 5.2. I would love to see NBC WX+ integrated into Weatherscan.

Not sure I understand your reasoning. The two are still COMPLETELY separate entities.

Not me. I don't like WeatherPlus, and Weatherscan undoubtedly has higher ratings than WeatherPlus. Heck, I don't even know anyone who watches WX+. Besides, TWC is suppose to operate as one separate channel, meaning no merges or anything like that.

If Weatherscan is discontinued, that would greatly affect me. You hardly see any beach, gardening, or health forecasts on TWC anymore, do you? Weatherscan is much more convenient for me as far as local weather is concerned rather than TWC.

I'm pretty sure that WeatherPlus will simply cease operations. If TWC would accept NBC's offer back in 2002, WeatherPlus would never had existed. But TWC declined, and thus NBC launched their own channel to compete. But now that they own the more successful TWC and Weatherscan, there's no need for them to have WeatherPlus anymore.

I don't see WxPlus being ceased anytime soon either. I think things will continue on just as they've been.

WeatherPlus is going absolutely nowhere. NBC has invested too much in it, as well as pretty much all the local affiliates. If anything, Weatherscan is getting the axe.

Yea I dont see WeatherScan going anywhere. I think development of Weather+ is still an option since some locals want to display OCMs on the forecast.

I agree with you both Gary and Martin. I can't see Weatherscan getting axed. Both will likely continue running as people have preferences whether to have just local information display, or have an OCM present it to you.

Sorry, but I'm differing with all three of you. There's a reason no upgrades have been made since the announcement that NBC was "interested" in TWC (and yes, there were a few minor tweaks planned). However, they have yet to be developed because the future of Weatherscan is on "thin ice." I'll leave it at that.

So you're saying Weatherscan WILL be discontinued, or are you just making a prediction?

I didn't say it would, I said, or was trying to say, it's all still unclear, though it remains a crude possibility.

Well, let's hope it stays. I can only imagine what I'd do if I end up saying bye-bye to Weatherscan...
