Title: My Scripted Series
Post by: toxictwister00 on September 03, 2011, 04:54:27 PM
Ok, here goes my second attempt at this, hopefully the post button won't be a FAIL on me this time.  <_<

A few times over the past couple of years, I shared a few of my scripts here of my scripted series I've been writing for the past 8 years since I was 10 called "Stuck On Stoop-id" in the Front Porch/Pot Belly Stove threads, but since several constant discussions take place there, I thought it might be better to place them in a separate thread. If any admins. feel differently, I'll go back to posting them there at seldom times of the year.

Since Labor Day is coming soon, I'm posting this episode since it begins on Labor Day. (It's only mentioned to be Labor Day in the slug lines of scenes in the first act.)

Episode Description/Season Three Episode 36 - Daniel’s Outrageous Birthday [CODE NUMBER - S3136]
It’s Labor Day, but it's also Daniel’s 32nd birthday and since he’s never been to Chuck E Cheese’s as a kid, the family plans to hatch that part of his lost childhood for his birthday. While there, Daniel receives a phone call from an old ex friend from high school whose opening his 4th theme park in the country in Kansas City. When he opened his 1st park, Daniel and he were partners that went their separate ways. Rick tells him that he still has an old stock from that park that’s worth millions of dollars now, but if he doesn’t get to Washington D.C in 1 day to claim ownership of it, Rick is planning to railroad Daniel by buying out his stock. Can Daniel get to DC in time to claim what's rightfully his?

There's an original and cleaner version (removed the mild/strong language) of this episode attached below.

Also back in November 2009, I posted a fan fiction episode of my series that revolved around The Weather Channel, due to the episode not being updated since then and there being 3 departures of OCMs I used in that script, I'll probably post an updated version here when I get around to it. Jim Cantore and Heather Tesch will remain in the script unchanged.

Alexandra Steele (Lines to be replaced by Crystal Egger or Julie Martin)
Kevin Robinson (Lines to be replaced by either Chris Warren or Eric Fisher)
Nicole Mitchell (Lines to be replaced by Maria LaRosa)

Paul Goodloe (One line)
Crystal Egger

Eric Fisher (One line)
Carl Parker
Heather Tesch (Involved in a catfight w/ Maria)
Maria LaRosa (Obsessed with Daniel)
Todd Santos (One line)
Dr. Greg Forbes
Stephanie Abrams & Al Roker (referenced in jokes)

Season Five Episode 95: The Day After The Weather Sucked
(Daniel saves Kansas City's very own famous news reporter Nick Owens in a hostage situation, but he accidently ends up putting the local news station's meteorologist out of commission for 6 weeks. Daniel ends up being his temporary replacement and ratings skyrocket sending Daniel on a warm front to success when his journey lands him at The Weather Channel. Unfortunately, he has a 100% chance of making enemies, friends, an obsessed fan and did I mention a slight chance of making more enemies?)

I just realized tonight I started this thread without posting character descriptions of the main/secondary characters. The list has been updated tonight attached below.

Also for those who read this, I need help on choosing a new story title. The current one now I'm not liking as much as I used to. Right now I have:

Stoop-idly Misguided Family
Stoop-idly Misguided
I'm With Stoop-id
Stoop-id Is As Stoop-id Does
Home Sweet Hell (Previous story title)
Overland Park (Suburban area outside of Kansas City)
KC (Short for Kansas City)

I like "Stoop-idly Misguided Family" and "Stoop-id Is as Stoop-id Does," but if I had to pick one, it would proably be the former. :)

The date goes surprisingly well and leads to well...a one night stand which only happened because Farrah dared Norman to be more exciting and spontaneous instead of boring and safe all the time. Dean Rough Draft Sketch

Age 13
DOB: November 1998 (As of 2011)

I know the shoes look weird, but as I mentioned before I'm not the best drawer and it's hard for me to try and draw in great detail that small. If it's hard to tell they are supposed to be Nike's. I'll probably change em to a different brand of shoes in my final draft. (Perferably something more simplistic for me to draw that's recognizable. :P)

These are what I call holdover ideas/episodes, there's a 50/50 chance I will or won't ever write them, in fact some of them I'm not sure are that great to begin with. What do you guys think?

Ana’s True Beauty
Ana is coaxed into entering a teen beauty contest on a dare by her siblings. That becomes the easy part, the hard part becomes of whether or not she can handle the overwhelming amount of divas who surpass in her way to prevent her from winning.

All That Saxy Jazz
As a part of their once a month family weekend outing, it’s Dean turn to choose somewhere for his family to spend their Saturday afternoon and he has chosen for them to attend a Smooth Jazz Festival which the entire family grumbles at the thought of, but it has a surprising effect on Daniel who quickly becomes a fan of the genre.
NOTE - This would be a fan fiction type episode, I already know I would want to write it to include Joyce Cooling and Jeanne Ricks in it, but anyone else I'm not sure yet.

8 Simple Rules for Dating My Gay Teenage Son
Daniel becomes overprotective of his son Dean dating his shy, reserved, yet rebellious friend Rocco, but Dean takes his overprotective behavior as him treating him like a third daughter rather than a son.

Tales of Terror IX
Invasion Of The Gender Swappers - While vacationing in the Caribbean, the Stoop family discovers a mysterious stone that they removed from it’s ancient grounds and ultimately as apart of the curse their genders are swapped around. The women hate being trapped in the guys bodies, but Daniel and Jason aren’t so quick and ready to reverse back.

Pandemonium - Dean suddenly disappears after having a nightmare about someone in his family being possessed by the devil. Daniel is hypnotized by Professor Copernicus to go into his dreams to find his missing son, once he does and brings him back to reality, another shocking twist is revealed.

Secrets of the Sacred Jaded Phoenix
Rodney and Daniel's boss Captain Beamington years ago discovered an ancient treasure chest labeled as the "Jaded Phoenix" while fighting in the Vietnam War. They both including a friend who was with then when they made the discovery decided to take the treasure chest back home with them and bury it, never to be touched, all agreeing that only the last one of the three living would have the privilege of basking in it's unlimited wealth. Rodney and Captain Beamington receive news that their friend has died, giving Beamington the opportunity to do everything in his power to get rid of Rodney so he can secretly have the treasure to himself.

Stoop-idly Misguided Experimenting Tactics
After an unfortunate skateboarding trick slip up lands Jason flat onto a male student’s lips, he questions his sexuality. So he starts experimenting to straighten (no pun intended) out his confused feelings, but Dean thinks it's an immature act of mockery, accusing Jason of not entirely being accepting of the fact that he has a gay brother.

A Tale of Two Divided Parties Among City Limits
This episode flashes back to November 2008 election day as Barack Obama becomes President-Elect, which is exciting news for the Stoops, but upsetting news for some of their conservative friends who were supporters of McCain. The bad political blood runs deep within the town where a fiery town hall debate leads to drastic action leaving the town to be split in half: liberals on one side and conservatives on the other.

A MidWinter Night’s Nightmare
Chaos and madness erupts between couples in this episode as they are mix matched with the wrong love at a Valentine’s Day party.

Were Back In Business!
After Mr. Beamington leaving town from the tornado fiasco, Daniel and his friends are left jobless, until Daniel gets the idea to start his own carpentry business and hire his friends to work for him.

It’s Hard to Say Goodbye (Series Finale Episode - This episode will be written obviously)
Daniel gets a call from the President that he wants to appoint him Secretary of Defense in his administrative cabinet. Daniel is excited about the offer, but he along with his family have mixed feelings on moving away from their home of Kansas City to the nation's capital. After some time to contemplate, the Stoops decide to make the move to the East Coast, saying a tearful goodbye to their friends as they ride away in the sunset.

Out of the nearly 8 1/2 years I've been writing this series, I did something rather unorthodox. This is the first episode where the entire first draft wasn't written but instead typed right off the bat. I think I'm going to start doing that more often so I don't have to draft it out first in a spiral notebook. I'll stick to doing my episode outlines on paper though.

Season 8 Episode 178 - Senior Graduates (Season Finale)
Special Code Number - S825178

EPISODE SYNOPSIS - Rodney, after 47 years, receives a letter from his old high school that he didn’t technically graduate high school along with some of his other friends when they were drafted into the Vietnam War back in 1965 and they will have to make up a credit of a class they weren’t given to receive their official diploma. Once Rodney and his friends enter back into the high school world their behaviors quickly change to where Rodney is acting like a 17 year old again rather than a 65 year old and Rodney's son Daniel is suddenly acting as the authoritative father figure over Rodney.

I'm gonna start in order with the Pilot titled "Never Trust Well Paid Doctors". It's amazing how the last draft I did of this was in March 2011 and I still need to cut a page or two of material.

Secondary characters introduced in the Pilot:
Farrah (Kara's twin sister)
Rodney (Daniel's dad)
Captain Beamington (Daniel's boss at the police station)
Jeremy Rhodes (Daniel's best friend and cop partner)
Harvey (Daniel's other best friend)
Dr. Hill (Family Therapist; only appears once again in Season 3)
Ashley (Queen Bee Popular 8th Grader)
Colby (Ana's male best friend/baseball teammate)
Miguel (Melody's boyfriend/neighbor)
Judge Patterson (Only appears in court related scenes)
Chief Dale

I made another slight change to my first season, switching the episode I had for ep. 4 to another episode. So below is the new episode 4 titled, "My Mom the Sex Ed Teacher" (New Title - TYPED ROUGH DRAFT #1)

Episode Summary: Kara has volunteered to be the new temporary Sex Ed teacher at her kids’ school much to their dismay and objections, but while she may be educating children on the basics of sex and prevention, she’s becoming a wild animal at home that Daniel just can’t keep up with.

This episode came in a little shorter than the average amount of pages I usually write, only 39 (18 1/2 front & back) pages.

Episode 2 is being heavily revised again, so I'll skip that one for now. Below is Episode 3.

Episode  3: Playing Hookey, Getting a Hookey (New Revised Title)
(When Jason, Ana and Dean are left out of the loop on a planned "Ditch Day" at school, they begin to feel as if they are uncool and decide in retaliation to plan their own Ditch Day, but things go awry when Principal Keeler catches them trying to fake illnesses to skip school and he immediately sends them to detention which they also eventually ditch to continue their ditch day plans. On their way, they run into their dad Daniel who is skipping work to avoid a job performance inspection at the police station that could put his job in jeopardy if he fails. While spending part of their afternoon at a baseball game playing hookey, a fly ball hits Jason in the face giving him a black eye. Rumors immediately spread around town and the assumption is that Daniel is abusing his son. The truth is finally revealed about the alleged abuse rumors, but it comes at the cost of admitting that they skipped work and school.)

Episode 5: Girl Power
(Ana tries out for the school football team, but is given a hard time by her teammates once she makes the team. After the school football coach is fired, Daniel along with everyone else in town worries that they once again will lose their chance to take on their longtime rivals The Vikings who have been undefeated for 20 years. (1992 as of 2012) Unexpectedly, Melody becomes the new temporary football coach after Jason's lazy and failed attempt, but Melody proves to have quite the competitive streak that brings out the nastiness in her. Under Melody's new leadership over the team, they are able to advance to the playoffs finally going against the Vikings, but will the team be able to win cutting losses with Ana or will she prove to be their only chance at their long awaited victory over their rivals?)

This isn't my best episode, one of the weakest of this first season IMO. Kinda tame in the jokes and all even though the story is moving at a fast pace than most of the other episodes I've posted usually do. I wanted to expand on the B-Story with Melody and her siblings on the movie they were making, but the episode was already running long and it's a B-Story anyway so it's not supposed to take up much time.  ;)

Episode 6: Lazy Daze, Bummer Times
(Jason, 13 and having not much of any long term goals in life starts hanging out with lazy bums who influence him into thinking he will get everything on a silver platter if he follows their motto. Meanwhile, Melody has to take on the duties of putting a student film together for her 8th Grade English class with her siblings Dean and Ana along with Grandpa Rodney volunteering to help, but the movie turns out to be a messy disaster once presented in class.)

The following episode are being skipped for now

Episode 7: Be My Valentines (V-Day has long well passed, but besides that I need to edit/revise it again)
Episode 8: Comin' Out - I can't find my written script so I can type it! :( It's in one of my notebooks of written scripts somewhere...
Episode 9: 30 Going On Uh…Well 30 (Revision needed; made some changes for the main plot that I haven't typed yet.)

In the meantime, attached below is...

Episode 10: The Stoop-id Man Who Made a Racist Comment

Episode Synopsis: When Chief Dale announces he's going on vacation and has picked someone to temporarily take his place, Daniel is more than sure that it will be him, but he gets the shock of his life when Dale picks Jeremy over him. Daniel believes Jeremy undermined him to get the temporary position. Daniel unknowingly makes a comment from a joke he heard on FOX news that leads to his co-workers believing he’s a racist. The joke in return could ultimately ruin his 20 year friendship with his best friend Jeremy so Daniel does what he can to do damage control on repeating the regretful joke.

SEASON ONE EPISODE 12: THE AMNESIAC SIS AND HER PRETENTIOUS GENIUS BRO

Episode Description: Jason cheats on his intelligence test and finds out that he got an extremely high score, high enough to qualify him as a genius, but Jason quickly realizes once he’s attending a prep school for gifted students that’s it’s not as luxury as he had expected when he becomes a victim of verbal bullying by his new peers for his less than intelligent remarks. Meanwhile, Melody finds out that she once had a boyfriend before Miguel and can’t remember him because she suffered memory lost from a water ski accident, Melody tries to go out with her previous boyfriend again, but he turns out to be very obsessive. At the end, it’s revealed that the entire thing with Melody was an April Fool’s joke orchestrated by her father Daniel.

SEASON ONE EPISODE 8: OUT OF THE CLOSET

Episode Description: Dean is nervous about having the lead part in a school play where he will have to kiss a girl. Eventually the secret slips out in the most unexpected way as Dean shouts he’s gay while performing in a school play. Will Daniel and Kara be able to accept having a gay son?

This one is fairly short compared to the others (37 pages/18.5 pages front and back) 3 pages below the minimum of 40. This is also the first rough draft, so I didn't change much from what I wrote.

SEASON ONE EPISODE 9: 30 GOING ON UH...WELL 30

NOTE: Temporarily skipping episodes 11 and 13 and jumping ahead to Season two. Episode 14 was a Halloween themed episode that I posted last October so I won't post that one again.

SEASON TWO EPISODE 15: FARRAH, KARA WHACKED SHUT

Episode Description: While at one of his GRA meetings (A version of the NRA), Daniel meets Leonato, an Italian mobster who’s trying to keep his high life of crime on the down low until Daniel makes a comment to him about how he wishes his sister in law Farrah would just die, Leonato and his gang of mobsters go out to kill Farrah, taking Daniel's comment as a green-light to whack her off even though Daniel didn't intentially want Leonato to put a hit out on her. Kara and Farrah are downtown when Leonato goes in for the kill on Farrah, but he doesn’t know whether Kara is Farrah or Farrah is Kara since they’re both twins, so he kidnaps and holds them both as hostages.

I'll be the first to admit the plot of this story is very far fetched (logically) but hey I don't do research to see if such a plot is realistically possible for a comedy. It was the best thing I could think of build up the climax to the plot.  :P

Season Two Episode 18: The Thanksgiving Fight Part One

Episode Description: Daniel notices a letter from the bank stating a “FINAL NOTICE” on his family’s very late final home mortgage payment. Daniel soon starts to remember that he gave away the responsibilities of the mortgage of his home as part of a bet during a poker game a year ago out of desperation. Ironically, he finds out the person who’s over his home mortgage is actually a bank teller at the same bank he got the final notice from. Daniel frantically tries to work out a compromise with the bank teller, but when the bank teller refuses to give him his home mortgage back, he’s left to come up with insane ideas to get out of having his home foreclosed. Meanwhile, Jason and his friends spend their last day of school before the holidays planning the biggest fireworks display to ever to be seen in town, but things don’t go as well as planned. Daniel on the other hand is on pins and needles trying to keep Kara from finding out his secret, but Rodney may drop the bomb on him, Later the bank teller comes by to inform the family that they have a month to leave their home as it has been officially repossessed by the bank. Kara is so upset that Daniel has been lying to her that she immediately kicks him out of the house on Thanksgiving night.

Episodes 20-23 are being heavily revised so they're also being temporarily skipped. Also the following below was originally a two parter, but morphed both parts into just one regular episode, I didn't really think it needed to be a two parter.

Season Two Episode 24: Mad Catdaddy Love
Episode Code - S22410

Episode Description: Rodney, tired of hanging out with his war veteran buddies and as a couch potato at his son’s home, decides to take the suggestion of Daniel to go on a blind date with an attractive young woman nearly half his age! But things aren’t all peachy when after dating for a few weeks Rodney’s girlfriend becomes pregnant! Rodney decides that the best way to solve the problem is not only to be a father to his soon to be child, but also to marry his girlfriend so the child won’t be born in wedlock, however once the day of the wedding arrives Rodney gets cold feet and pretends to confess his love to Kara as a cowardly way of breaking off the wedding.

I put so much work into writing these past almost 10 years (wow, I can't believe it's been that long!) that I've never really worked on character sketches. Well, that's what I'll be doing and posting here in between stories.

This first one is just a final draft of the character Dean (I posted one before a while back)

There are some mistakes in coloring because I used colored pencils on somewhat aging drawing paper. For example, the blue was supposed to show up much darker and no, that's not black nail polish on his fingers, I just totally screwed up coloring in the shadowing on his jeans.

Below are the original black and white and colored images.

It didn't dawn on me until this week, but the 12th (Thursday) will be the 10th anniversary since I wrote my first script for this series. I was in the 5th grade at the time. Time really flew by fast!

Anyway, I'm currently working on developing a new project and this one is much more ambitious because I want to turn it into an internet series on Youtube within the next 1-2 years. Long time I know, but I want to take my time to do it right.

The unofficial name of the series would be "Misguided or Misunderstood Missile" or simply just "Missile"

Below is brief summary of what I'm thinking for the pilot...
A young, shy, and socially awkward (age not decided yet) teenage boy by the name of Missile Parker has his world turned upside down once he learns his father (Warren Parker) is being arrested for tax evasion, leaving Missile virtually parent-less. In the meantime, Missile travels thousands of miles to (city location not decided yet) on the apartment doorsteps of his older estranged brother Rocket Parker. After getting off on the wrong foot from the start, the two brothers try to cope and adjust to their new temporary living arrangements, even though the new living arrangement puts a disruption on Rocket's life before Missile arrived.

Possible Cities I'm thinking of for the series to take place...
-Portland, OR or MA
-Boston, MA
-Seattle, WA
-San Francisco, CA

^ I'm trying to go for locations where there's a high number of folks identified as "Hipsters" for this series to take place in.

It's a very broad timeline, but it might not take that long to complete since it's only going to be a 5 minute short to test the waters. If it goes all well, I'll animate the whole pilot and go from there.

I could really use some help on this. As one of two projects I'm doing for my advanced AE class, I've decided to do a intro to my new scripted series and I'm trying to decide on a font for the title. These are 8 of the best ones I've seen and liked from dafont.com

Orange Juice
(http://i.imgur.com/qfEkxDa.png)

Cute Cartoon
(http://i.imgur.com/ZTkDqqs.png)

Kraash
(http://i.imgur.com/obfD5R3.png)

Chicken Butt

Space Out

Get the F@#% Up
(http://i.imgur.com/OFWhQDD.png)

Teenage Delinquent

Awkward

Thank you for the input Trevor, hopefully I'll be able to decide on one soon. I like the Awkward, Cute Cartoon, and Orange Juice fonts the best in addition to the two you picked.

Update: I'm 50% done with my show intro for "Misguided Missile". :twothumbs: I chose to do this for my Advanced AE class project which spans the entire semester.

I would share a test video of what I have so far, but I think even if I watermark it w/ my name someone else might download it and claim it as their own work. :hmm:

On second thought, since I'm going to work on an alternate version in the future, I think I will share the version I decided to make for my AE class. In fact, the theme show intro is completed one month ahead of schedule for this semester! :twothumbs: However, I'll wait until I present it in class which won't be until next month and once it's been graded I'll attach it here.

I'm finally finished and ready to present on Monday! I can't wait! :D I'm still gonna do the part in bold afterwards. I should point out again that the version I made for my AE class won't be the same version I would use for the actual show. Right now I'm still working on a script. (just started on it 2 weeks ago) Once I get that done, I'm going to focus my attention on making a short pilot (roughly 3-5 minutes) to post on YouTube. Who knows how long that will take me though.

I'm going to have to post my first rough draft intro (my AE Project which I got an A+ on btw  :D) of my ongoing developing cartoon series "Misguided Missile" from a third party source. It's about 52MB mp4 file in size, which is pretty small when you're talking about an AE project with a lot of animation in it. When I tried to attach it here, the site flaked out, probably because of my crappy wi-fi connection.  <_< The music is from a band called Captain Cryptic with the same song title name as the cartoon. You can find it on gettyimages.com under the music section. I claim no rights or ownership to their music. I only used it for the sake of my class project because it fits with the intro I created. I have no plans whatsoever to use this song or their music when I recreate the intro over again from scratch to use for the actual series.

I actually came up with the name of my cartoon series because of this song, so it's very likely the name will change. I may just simply call it "Missile" and drop the Misguided part. I don't know yet.

Link to the song I chose as a temporary theme song for my class project

Thinking it over, I decided to go with a different font choice, so I chose Dimbo font from dafont.com.

You can download the font from here if you like it or want to use it for something

Also I finished my first draft for the pilot of this story about a month ago, but I think I'm going to try to get it copyrighted first with the US Copyright Office before I share it here.

I've been putting this project on hold this Summer, but since yesterday, I started working on redesigning my characters. Below is one of the new designs, I did a before and after to show off some of the changes I made from May to this month. They're not subtle changes either!

Never satisfied apparently, I settled on another design style. No more last minute changes, I'm about 100% positive the second and fourth designs will be the final look.  :)

Also, this won't have any impact in delaying my progress, everything is still on track.

Well it shouldn't come to any surprise that I obviously was wrong on this. Reasoning for this big delay has been because I'm still experimenting with how to animate this cartoon plus sometimes life just gets in the way just because it can. <_< I've tried everything from the puppet method to the Duik script. The latter of which I liked the best, but it's too time consuming for each individual character. I think I've figured out a similar, but easier method for me to animate. Because of this, I can only go with a premiere date of TBD.  :(

Plus I'm still working on the voice acting, like I said about the animation, this is a one man show for me. I had to write an alternate script where there are no females that will be heard or seen since I can't do female voices (not convincingly anyway). :P

In the meantime, here's another graphical update of the main character, he's a little less stiff than before, in addition to rockin' some dope new kicks. :D

Well, it's not an episode and it's incomplete (work in progress), but it is the beginnings of a cartoon short I started working on last week/weekend.

I submitted this W.I.P video as apart of a film festival event my professor/adviser informed me about. He said they had a category for specifically Animation and he recommended I submit something in because he thinks my work is pretty good. I originally told him I wasn't going to submit this at first because like I said it's incomplete, but he informed me that it didn't have to be, it could be classified as a "test animation".

What do you guys think of it so far?
