16 like  the new 21 these days (as it seems)

I have to close down at work.. and then I am heading to a party (maybe..if its not the new year by the time we get out :rolleys:  the manager in charge takes FOREVER to close)

although that is certainly true, there are those who drink maturely, and those who do not and can not. i know my limitations, for me...it's an "easy-way out" of my problems other than killing myself, literally. (some may find that as an excuse, and it is...but it's also true) I noticed it helps me forget the negativities i thought about 24/7 (this was when I was 14).

again that was my last time, I had a blast, but at the same time I decided to stop for the sake of school.

my family has a history of alcoholics, i don't intend on becoming one, but at the same time i want just cut-lose, and relax.

Many people in my family drink, but I don't, nor do I plan to even in my adult life. It's better to "not be cool" (like what kids might say to non-drinkers) than to be under the influence.

around here (heights) your not judged how "cool" you are based on if you drink or not...either you do drink or you don't, and you'll be accepted either way (by your friends). i don't see how drinking makes anyone "cool", because truthfully it doesn't.

drinking is uncool.

The drinking around here has gotten better..but still..you've got people who get drunk every freaking day

Your right about that, unfortunately.

Al, the drinking isn't relieving your problems. It just temporarily hides them.

As for the maturity angle...I think not. No teenager can drink responsibly. Teenagers don't have the mental capabilities yet to do that. Its hard for even adults to drink responsibly.

right. i tried to imply that, I guess i didn't...but yeah, you're right.

as for the maturity, thing...like I said, some know their limitations, others could give a rats ass...sadly not even half know their limitations. I never said ALL teens can drink responsibly, but you'll be surprised there are a few.

as for parents, drinking responsibly, it's because they think they are superior and invisible, when they're really not.

Interestingly, that's the very reason most teens can't drink responsibly.  :whistling:

Oh, I see what you mean. You had me confused for a second (b/c you said "title", which refers to the actual name of the thread). :)

Happy New Year... I had a great time in Las Vegas seeing the fireworks from the Pallazo, the Venetian, Circus Circus, and Stratosphere hotel :). My parents and I stayed on the streets somewhere near the Strip, but too bad we couldn't go there otherwise we would catch hypothermia in the 38 degrees cold weather at midnight :(.

You're not going to get hypothermia from being exposed to 38 degree weather unless you're only wearing your underwear. I work outside, often in temperatures under 30, and I'm out there for 8 hours a day, and I'm just fine and dandy.
