There is one in a mall nearby me, and I imagine they're popping up everywhere.  Just remember that every time the wind speed doubles, the force of the wind pushing on you quadruples.

Yep, have that exact same thing at my local mall, but I haven't seen anyone use it before afaik. Looks fun though.

Does it just wrap the winds around?

Yeah, I guess. There is a large fan unit in the top of the machine that just blows wind everywhere. (@Martin)
LOL. My friend was recording and didn't know how to hold the camera correctly. =D (@Mega)

I thought about trying it, but it seemed to me 78 mph winds would move your clothes and hair more than what I saw. :dunno:

It would move you way more if the fan was pointing to your side rather than straight above you, which is a credit to the design of the machine for safety reasons.  Think of when Mike Bettes did the wind tunnel test at Virginia Tech almost a year ago with the fan blowing in front of him.  Even at 78 mph on the way to 133 mph, he had those straps on him for a reason.

I figured the fan was pointing down.  Even at that I'm still not convinced until I try it.

There is one of these at the Monroe Mall in Monroe, MI. The winds went up to almost 80 mph. It was really fun.
I heard there is something similar to this down in Toledo, Ohio, in which winds go past 80 mph, and even up to Cat 5 strength. (Though, for Cat 5 strength mode, you have to have special permission and a watcher.

I was greatly disappointed.  This simulation sucks.  After the wind reached 30-40.  It got no stronger.  I want my two dollars back.

The only good "hurricane simulator" I have seen was at the Imagination Station in Toledo, Ohio. It was MUCH better than the ones in the malls. May I also add that when I went in the one at my local mall, it gained a lot of attention? :P

I've been wanting to go to Imagination Station for the simulator. Doesn't the winds go above Cat 1 or 2 strength?
