Rest well Frank Batten and thanks for starting The Weather Channel.

Very sad to hear this. RIP Frank Batten.

Very Sad day for the Whole TWC community may he rest in peace.

Sad news indeed. RIP, Mr. Batten :(

RIP Mr. Batten. Without you, we wouldn't be here as a community this day. :(

This is a sad day for everyone in the TWC community indeed. :( He deserves a huge thank you from all of us for creating TWC and for being determined enough to push his creation through even when everyone said that a 24-hour channel completely devoted to weather would never last. Personally, I'm not sure that I would have become inspired enough to even be a real meteorologist without TWC. May he rest in peace, and I hope his family will be okay.

Very sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Batten. He really created a new genre of television programming with the creation of TWC. He'll be missed by many. :(

RIP Frank. I also thank him for creating TWC. We wouldn't be into weather, smooth jazz or graphics if it wasn't for that channel he geniously created. It's ashame now that NBC took over TWC, things went for the worse while TWC wasn't that bad when Batten/Landmark owned it.

Glad TWC is showing a clip on this

Wow, I hadn't heard about this. RIP Mr. Batten. :(
Anyone think this might explain his sudden decision to sell off all his assets? Maybe he'd been ill or something and knew he was coming to the end of his life...

I was thinking Throat Cancer because of the way he talked but thats just me.
