I hate school. I mean it's boring and all you do is to have your butt on the chair for 7-8 hours a day. But without an education, that would be worser then school. I have to get up early in the morning and come home exhausted from school.
But anyways, anyone here like school or not? Even if you're grown up, share your experiences.
-
The best answer for me would be sometimes. I liked school during my K-5 years, but once I got into middle school, school lost its luster. And, obviously, by the time I got to high school I ended up calling it quits. And while that wasn't a good decision, it was the right one.
-
High school is becoming too much for me. I don't know wether to drop out or not,

-
You have to be an idiot to drop out of school, no offense to those who have already.
I like school, because you see your friends on a daily bases, including weekends, haha...everything as of right now couldn't be better for me...other than having massive amounts of homework everyday, I'll take it. :)
-
I HATED K-5, but once i got into Jr. High and High School, I loved it (except for the big ammounts of homework).
-
I somewhat like school, but I hate the school I am at right now. Too many rude people, and it's overpacked (at least 2,300 students are in my school). :glare:
I want to go back to a PA school.

Agreed.Tough it out. It'll be worth it when its over.
Al, I'm not offended because I know you have a habit of running your mouth without having any clue what your talking about.
And, just so your clear, there are many good reasons for dropping out.
-
I like high school because it's challenging work. In middle school, I really didn't feel challenged. I don't like to do HUGE amounts of homework though. By huge, I mean like 1-2 hours of homework PER class.
-
there are many good reasons for dropping out.
Like???

Like the inability to graduate with your class for reasons beyond your control. I'll be damned if I'm working my ass off all those years to graduate with some other class. As you can see, that was why I dropped out. Other good reasons include being harassed/bullied in such a way that it makes it impossible for you to come to school and learn. We all have a right to learn in a safe and orderly school, and when that can't happen, its as good a reason as any to drop out and pursue an alternate means of earning a diploma.
Need I say more, my furry friend?
-
I didn't mean to sound rude or anything. I was just curious. Isn't that the point of school? To work hard and get good grades? As for harrassment and bullying, i don't see why a visit to the principle couldnt fix that. But then again, maybe things have changed.

What decade did you go to school in? These days (since the 90's) a trip to the principle is about useless. IF your lucky enough to find the principle. Yes, the point of school is to work hard and get good grades, and IMO to graduate with those you began school with, not some class of strangers. Graduation, IMO, is much more meaningful with your own class.
-
I graduated in the early 90s...

Well maybe things were different in the 80's then. Obviously things weren't like they were in the mid-late nineties and early 00's when I was in my middle and high school years.
-
Sometimes, some things i dont like, others i dont mind ;)
-
I sometimes like school.
I can't really explain why. I guess I just think of the future..and that is what keeps me going.
High school was very overwelming for me, but eventually..i got used to it, and kept thinking about the future. I've gone too far to end it now.

First off I wasn't directly pointing the finger at you...I know people drop out, for personal reasons...secondly care to explain why you even went to school for elementary...then for junior school to then just drop out of high school and have those years wasted? Using your parents as an excuse is not void. that post wasn't meant to be put in a rude way, though after re-reading it, it did sound rude.
I apologize if my post sounded rude to anyone.

I didn't use my parents as an excuse for anything. I dropped out because of my own reasons (which I've already mentioned AND WILL NOT repeat again). I dropped out because the school system failed to educate me. I could not graduate with my class because of my school's and school system's failures, and I wasn't going to graduate with any class other than mine. When you get older and more mature you'll understand the logic behind this.

I noticed some of my posts were removed, none the less Gary I know exactly what you mean, I was faced with a similar issue, I had/have a learning dissability on top of that which made it even more difficult. I dropped out for a few months in Grade 10 due to this, returning a few months after.

FURRY FRIEND! :rofl2: Haha, my cat Nutmeg.
I hate doing huge amounts of homwork. I'm surprised no one voted a no. :o

Yah, same here. Last year in ninth grade, the classes were a bit too easy for me as a lot of stuff were things I learned already years back. This year I am taking higher level classes and am being more challeged. I like challenging work, but not difficult work.
-
I hate doing too much homework. I don't mind taking TOO MUCH EASY homework or LITTLE CHALLENGING homework but too much hard homework, which is happening to me, is annoying. <_<

who said you did? I figured some smart ass would say something "my parents" made me...I'm not sure why it looks as though you're yelling at me, but I'm trying to put my post in a nice way...if you can't see that...surely I don't belong here.

My parents had no effect on my decision. It was based personally on my own values and beliefs. Al, I needn't tell you that no one is keeping you here. Just ask Dan and Gil.
Thunder, I don't know what's going on. Maybe Stephen did it?
-
It looks like it was Stephen. Just please don't argue. It seems that every time i make a topic/poll, a conflict arises. <_<
-
And I'd say that 80% of the time it has nothing to do with you. Its not your fault.

I know that. It's not your fault either. The arguing just needs to stop. :whateva:

I really like to know if school were better in the 90s and earlier then now.
-
In my humble opinion, school was better in the 90's, especially the early to mid 90's. You had principals and teachers that cared. You had custodians that actually did their jobs instead of letting the school fall to the depths of hell. Problems were nipped in the bud, instead of being allowed to get out of control like they are nowadays.
-
Yah, I noticed in recent years teachers seem to be less and less caring about their students.
-
The only thing teachers care about is getting paid...
-
Teachers are more boring these days. I just love my English teacher however. She is so friggin nice! She offered me extra credit and a free ride and never raises her voice! ^_^
-
All of my teachers are very nice this year,
-
My teachers are all nice too, just like last year.
-
I had a male teacher last year... I think he was a child molester. He was bizzarre...
-

:rofl2:! A lot of people in my school think a certain 6 grade teacher is gay!
-
I love school. I even get to do groupwork and cooperate with my friends/ members
-
I hate to admit it, but I miss school, now I get bored without seeing many people.
-
What kind of college do you go to? I've never been to one where there aren't many people.
-
Sorry, I meant to say I miss school because life was much simpler then, study go to bed, study go bed, now its very different! <_<
-
i can't wait till may 21st because thats when i graduate high school
-
My high school ends on June 15 <_<
-

What do you mean by "get out?"
-
he's going to a college w/o dorms so he'll go be back home from "college" at noon
-
If I were to go to a college far from home, I'll probably just rent a nearby apartment or condo. I'm not sleeping with other people in dorm rooms.

me nethier. I dont wanna live next to strangers
I'd rent a condo near Stanford or NYU or Columbia University, if i choose to go
-
I'd probably do the same. Unless of course, there is another STAR on campus.
-
Most major colleges have a Junior.
I think Columbia University has one
-
i get out june 3rd...next year I'm a senior!! omg i can't believe it.
-
No. I don't like school. It's nothing, but work. Right now I'm in Finley Elemtary, which is the worst school I ever went. Right now I only have 22 days left for elemetary!! :o Wow...
-
You're only in elementary school, how many other schools could you have attended? Plus, I doubt elementary school is that bad.
-
I'm with Tyler on point #2. My elementary school years were probably the best years of my life.
-
Mine's To. I Had Great Friends and kewl People I Met.
-
I still keep in touch with people I met in kindergarten. :twothumbs:
-
Everyone in my school are people that I've only known since late '05 because I moved to a different school district in a different state. I haven't kept in touch with the people at my old school since I moved (including some from as far back as kindergarten and even preschool!).
-
I had lots of friends in elementary school, but my teachers were not very good, except 2 that were awesome. I don't know which is better: lots of friends, or good teachers. :hmm:
-
I guess I was lucky, because I had both. I had loads of friends, and probably the best teachers, principal, and AP in Baltimore County.
-
In..teresting... What;s and AP?
-
I think he's referring to the associate principal.
BTW - I wanted to ask. How many principals do you guys have?
In elementary school, we had 1 principal, 1 asst. principal.
Middle school... 1 building principal; 4 astt. principals (one for each grade); 4 asst. administrators (like an asst. asst. principal, and again, one per grade).
High school (at Penn Hills)... 1 building principal, 3 astt. principals (one for each grade); 3 asst. administrators (like an asst. asst. principal, and again, one per grade).
Here, we have 1 principal, 1 asst. principal.
-
Elementary - 1 principle, no assistants
Jr. High - 1 principle, 2 assistants (1 disciplinary, 1 special ed)
-
The north and south buildings in my school each have one principal and four vice principals, plus a vice principal that serves both the north and south buildings.
-
AP=Assistant (aka vice) Principal
In elementary school I had one principal and one assistant, in middle there was one principal and three assistants, and the same in high school.
-
So in other words my schools had the most principals, lol?
-
Jr School - 1 Principal, 2 Assistant Principals
High School - 1 Principal, 3 Assistant Principals
-
Hmm, let's see...
- Elementary School - 1 principal
- Middle School - 1 principal, 2 assistant principals
- High School - 1 principal, 2 assistant principals
-
school sucked for me. I went to high school in Carribean for one....i remember for 10th grade i had no English or Math for half a semester... both teachers were sick. bullies in puerto rico are worse than in the states...but i wont go into details. I am glad I left that island and all its people behind forever. I am a College graduate from Ohio State, graduated in 1999. If I had to repeat high school again it wouldnt be in the carribean
