I wear glasses as I'm nearsighted and farsighted. :)
-
No. My vision is perfect.
-
Yup I wear glasses. 8)
-
My vision isn't perfect, but it isn't bad enough for me to wear glasses or contacts.
-
I'm nearsighted and have been wearing glasses since May 2003, but I have been needing them since at least early 2002 when I found out I couldn't read the board too well far away anymore. I wear glasses only during school as I use them to read something far in the classroom, such as a black/white board. Even though I can't really read things far away that well without squinting, I still don't wear my glasses as much as I should as I look horrible with them. I'll probably have to wear them more often though once I start driving, which is only as little as about four months away.
-
I dont wear glasses or contacts, i can see fine. Sometimes i do squint seeing far away things.
-
I started ro wear glasses recently, but I only do when I read for a long period of time or if I'm sitting in front of the computer, like I do at work.
-
No. I don't wear either glasses or contacts. But I do wear sunglasses very often when outside. 8)
-
Used to..dont anymore
-
currently...I wear glasses...however I'll be saving up for contacts pretty soon. As glasses seem to be going out of style and I'm probably the only one who still uses them at my school :p
-
No glasses for me! :D

If I ever had to use glasses or contacts, I'd get glasses. I'd hate the idea of touching my eye to put on contacts.
-
I was once offered if I wanted contacts, and they itched and reddened my eye. Found out I had an allergic reaction to contacts! Weird, huh?
-
How can you have an reaction to contacts? What are they made out of?

latex.
-
Yeah its very easy to have a reaction to contacts.
-
I don't, but my mom and dad wear them

You've had contact lenses before Gary?
-
No, but I've done lots of research on them because I've considered them a number of times.
-
How long have you had glasses?
-
I first gotglasses way back in 1990 when I was but a young kindergardener. :sunglasses:
-
Wow!
-
Yep, and I probably actually needed them long before that. I was probably born with bad vision. I have astigmatism, which is when the eyeball is football shaped, instead of perfectly round. So I was probably born that way, it probably wasn't something that developed later on.

Really! Did your parents have bad vision and wore glasses?
-
My mother and both brothers are near sighted, and my fathers eyes have only recently gone bad from age. I'm the only one in the family with astigmatism. We're not really sure where I got it from, as its hereditary, and we don't know of anyone else in the family that has it.

Well I am learning about heriditary in Biology class. So I think the past generations your ancestors probably had some bad vision. And the bad vision is passed on to you. If you get married and have children, there is a chance that the bad vision from you Gary might pass on to them. Just assuming about your eyesight.
Have you gone to the eye doctor for that?

Yes of course I could pass it on to my children-assuming I have any. And yes I've seen an eye doctor-how else would I have gotten glasses?
-
Yes that is true! How would they help you cure your eye disease astigmatism? Can it be cured?
-
The glasses just adjust my vision to 20/20. They really don't do much of anything in terms of changing the eye itself. There's no cure, but sometimes you can outgrow it-though I'm 22 and my eyes are still pretty bad, so I'm not holding out hope on that.
-
Do you have a wife or any kids that you passed them on to yet? If it outgrows itself, it's painful right?
-
No, I have neither yet. And no, outgrowing something doesn't involve any pain at all.
-
My eyes have worsened (only a little though) since I first started wearing glasses in May 2003.
-
At least you can see with your glasses. It is too bad you can't cure the disease. DO you think the disease astmigatism will be there throughout your life?

Probably.
And I misspoke earlier. They actually have a form of laser surgery now that can correct astigmatism.
-
Laser surgery! Isn't that painful
-
Laser surgery! Isn't that painful
Nope. Its relatively painless.
-
YOu've had it before?
-
Krishnan, astigmatism isn't a "disease." Millions of people have that. It's nothing significant at all.
-
A "condition" perhaps, but, no, not a disease. :D
And no, Krishnan, I've never had it before.
-
y does he ask personal questions too much??
-
I was fine with his questions. :sunglasses:
