I disagree with whomever you heard that from, I test viruses and such on a spare computer and I have the latest AVG... does pretty well if you ask me.

So the 3200 is faster?  I'm going to buy two 1GB RAM.   Looking at newegg which brand would you choose?  My specs call for Unbuffered or does this matter?

It's best if you match the speed to the computer's default, with the higher space (eg 512 MB DDR PC2700 upgraded to 1 GB DDR PC2700).

Here's my desk setup. (from left to right) my iMac is far left, then a microphone for recording stuff, NOAA Weather Radio, 19" TV Display, HP G60 laptop for making graphics for StormChaseTN.com (check out the site here). I then have some pens, pencils, etc. in a little spinny thing.

EDIT: I had to put on the flash because the room is dimly lit. Sorry that the image is kinda washed out ;(

I bought two 1GB ram.  Ordered pc2700 instead of pc3200. :doh:  Will it perform correctly?  How much better will my pc perform?

It would help us to know what the make & model of your PC is.. if it's not a PC2700 computer and you put the RAM in chances are likely the PC won't even be able to boot since you used the incorrect type of RAM. IMO, it's better to never replace your RAM unless you know what you're doing or if you consult someone (especially someone you know really well) who knows what they're doing.

What is the difference between DDR2 and DDR3 RAM? Best Buy wanted $51 for 2gb/DDR2 and $25 for 4gb/DDR3. Both looked to be the same size!

DDR3 is the latter version/revision of ram sticks. It's newer, uses less power, and performs much better than DDR2. You can only use what your system currently uses and cannot mix and match the types. So, say if your current computer uses DDR3 at 1333Mhz, you can only add DDR3 at 1333Mhz. You also need to get sticks with the same Mhz speed or your system will use the lower speed ram set for all sticks.
