Downloading/converting YouTube videos
« on: February 10, 2008, 05:47:48 PM »
Does anyone know any completely free (not trials) programs or websites that download and convert YouTube videos? I googled and tried a web-based converter called vixy.net, but it refuses to download the video when I paste the link and hit download. Then I continued searching and came across a program that does downloads/converts videos, but it claims to me that the URL doesn't exist, and it does (and yes, I checked my internet connection and it was fine). Thanks for any help.

For converting I use Total Video Converter. Google it to find it. It's a great program. It IS a trail, but the watermark it puts on videos is so small you can hardly see it.

To add to my initial post, the file type I want them converted to is MPEG4.

I use http://mediaconverter.org/ . It can convert YouTube videos online, and you can also upload FLV files from your hard disk to convert. It does allows you to convert to the MPEG4 format, too.
