Anyone have Sirius/XM radio?
« on: August 16, 2010, 07:55:41 PM »
I'm currently on a free trial for Sirius Internet Radio. I'm enjoying the overwhelming variety of stations. I'm inclined to register, but it is $12.95 per month. I'm not going to buy any equipment; I'll just subscribe to the online radio. Is it worth it if I will continue listening to Pandora and my iTunes library?

My dad's planning on putting it in his car. But if I were you I'd stick with Pandora and the iTunes library.

I think the biggest benefit of satellite radio is if you do a lot of travelling (allowing you to listen to your favorite stations no matter where you are in the country), or if there's specific content you're interested in that you can't get on terrestrial radio.  Yes, $12.95 a month is a pretty hefty sum.

I'm going to give you a couple of links that are free alternatives and still give a great variety of music:

Yeah my dad uses XM satellite radio for his car but idk the price, I think $48 a year. I love it though, it's useful for long distance driving since we do a lot of traveling

My dad has had it for years and he loves it, I got it a few years after he did and I really liked it too but then I got a new car and I don't want to put the antenna on it and risk it rusting so I just use it at home.

For now, I'll listen to Sirius Radio on my free trial. After that expires, I'll go back to my usual listening modes. I might subscribe to satellite radio in the future.

My mom's car has XM; if you have an iPod, it beats satellite radio. (My car has an iPod dock built into the back and an old 4G with a playlist permanently hooked in. I have the 600 best songs in the world....no need for CD's or radio, just one big, LONG playlist of songs I like. And I can skip over songs I'm not in the mood to hear without ever touching the player itself, just through the dials on the stereo. ;) And it's not headphone, so the battery on the iPod is always charged.

I've had XM for several months now and love it. Well worth it if you love music, talk radio, sports, etc and are in your car enough.

:cry3:

I want my XM radio back on DirecTV! I miss listening to the Morning Mash-Up every morning on XM 20 on 20. But oh well, it is what it is. If all is possible I'd so get XM. Radio stations here are so crappy, and satellite radio is among very popular in my area.
