Just wondering if anyone else has a real intellistar 2 HD unit? We have been replacing them and was told to toss them but save the HDD. So wondering how rare they are outside the Headend

I've seen a fair amount of them showing up on eBay lately. They either have no hard drive or all the drives were wiped before they got put up for sale. If I buy one off eBay with a wiped hard drive where would I be able to get the software to reinstall the graphics music etc? Does anyone know if someone may have the hard drives for sale with the OS on them already?

The IntelliStar 2's software is proprietary software that The Weather Channel customized for internal/headend use only. I doubt that you would be able to find the software anywhere, much less from them. Nowadays more Star units have been popping up on eBay with wiped hard drives since eBay sellers don't want to be held liable for any data that might be on the drives (This also includes PCs). You might be lucky if you do find one on eBay that does have the drives intact, but I doubt that it will.

There are 2 intellistar 2 hd units on there now from an electronics recycler company who wiped the drives and said they can't sell any pc with data on the drives. I goes it will be hard to find one intact but you never know. Thanks
