weather.com isn't weather-y anymore
« on: November 21, 2012, 02:01:18 AM »
After such a long time not following TWC, I wanted to check to see how things were doing. The first thing I did was...go to weather.com. Honestly, my visit to the website was poor.

What happened to the weather stories? What happened to the "city with the best weather?" What happened to advertisements of events with good weather? Most of all, where's the weather?

To me, weather.com is more like discoverychannel.com because apparently the time I came to the site, I was welcomed with an article about sexless animals and how they can survive, as well as what vaccines do dogs really need. I mean...that's not weather. The least thing I want to do on the website is just check what the weather will be like for tomorrow.

I'm not really reviewing, I'm just basically saying from a visitor's perspective...what would someone think when they visit weather.com? Also, before you go all like "HUURRRR IT'S ALL NBC'S FAULT. THEY DID IT LOL", remember that it's not just NBC, yo.

I'm surprised that there's no discussion about it, so I'll just leave it to y'all to discuss and what you think of the site now.

I only use weather.com to check my forecast (mainly to compare with the NWS and our NBC affiliate). The rest of the site is worthless. Well, some of the blog posts are interesting. But some of the stories are so silly it makes me laugh. I assume it's just a tie-in with NBC, but still.

I really don't like weather.com either. I use theweathernetwork.com instead. Their website has not changed for many years.
