Just an idea & rather personal observation. would the vortex 2 program be better served to out source & or subcontract some of its storm chasing out to other chasers whom could be vetted by them to also gather data. today @ about 730a when stef was speaking with one of the crew members/ he said they would not be chasing the storms in eastern ok into northern arkansas due to hills & trees? my ? is if the equiptment is only good for flatland data retreival where does that leave most people in us in this study? living in sw kansas on the dry line i see these storms go east when ever they occur. just a question,,,please no replies from the english dept,,,i really could care less how my use of english or grammar is,,,thankyou

Just to answer your question, Vortex2 is only approved for a certain area of the country. It's so big a team that it would be difficult for them to spread out over a large area. Hills and trees can obstruct the view and pose a safety risk for viewing the tornadoes. They want ideal conditions as much as possible to study the storms and keep everybody safe. I'll lock up this thread now, so continue your discussions in the other Vortex 2 thread that was shown to you. Welcome aboard, too!
