TWC Lays off Staff

Gosh this is awful Makes me sick seeing Forecast Earth and all the people TWC pays for that garbage. Long time OCMs like Dave get tossed out to the trash. What little that was left of TWC to enjoy seems to be fading fast!

Just learned from my source that about 80 people were let go total. This, he says, includes just about all of the marketing department. This information is coming from ACTUAL TWC EMPLOYEES. None of it is heresay.

That would make sense. With NBC's strong marketing department and tactics, TWC's marketing department would be one of the easiest to cut. After all, marketing doesn't have to be done within TWC - it could easily be done at NBC HQ in New York.

That's true. I never thought about that.

I found an article from USA Today and it says that Dave Schwartz, Cheryl Lemke and Eboni Deon are the 3 OCM's that have been layed off.

This is definitely a shame.  Then again, since it is a new company, it doesn't surprise me.  Best of luck to the 3 being layed off, and hopefully they can find a new job that they enjoy

Wow, this is sad seeing Dave and Eboni here on the air together, both ready to go down together, seemingly after this very broadcast.

Dave's even joking around, too; nice to see him able to maintain a happy demeanor under such tough circumstances.

More late breaking details from my source. the Road Crew is history. He confirmed that the environmental department has in fact been axed, although he couldn't confirm Hedi Cullen's status. He tells me that TWC Radio took a MAJOR hit. He has also informed me that a long-time off camera meteorologist has been relieved of his duties.

This is getting more interesting by the moment!

Someone said earlier he was making jokes...that's good.  Anyone recording his performance?  Any funny comments?  I've been a HUGE fan of his for like 15 years and I sincerely hope I'll see him on-air someplace...he is my friend and I've always looked forward to watching The Philadelphia Kid talking about stickball, doing yoga, and eating M&M's, playing TWC Jeopardy, etc over the years.  Watching TWC won't be the same.

There were no comments about leaving, but I have a feeling that they wouldn't be allowed to say anything given the circumstances. At least he got in one last "My Friend" as the show was coming to a close...

We all knew this was probably going to happen once NBC bought the station.... I have a feeling that if Landmark still owned the station, there wouldn't be this major of a hit on the staff...

Also, as far as I know, I'm pretty sure Jeff Meilcarz [sic?] still has his job atleast until after the Atlanta half-marathon on Thanksgiving... That's been in the plans for months and I don't think they'd just trash it like *snaps fingers* that...
