Title: So much for less longform this year
Post by: RSully94 on December 03, 2016, 10:41:30 AM
Didn't they say around this time last year that they would cut down on all the longform and return to broadcast programming? Well, 2016 is almost finished, and for the most part, they still end weather broadcasting at 8 PM Eastern on weekdays and 12 PM Eastern on weekends. And if you're a West Coast viewer like myself, then that means it ends at 5 PM Pacific and 9 AM Pacific.

Seems like we were completely lied to. I know some people on here were hoping for the best, but it looks like they are still slowly burning off their reality shows. Why the hell would you produce so much garbage if you were going to tell viewers that you would stop reality television programming?

That's a VERY good question.

I actually don't mind shows which are directly WEATHER related, like the Top Ten shows, Weather Gone Viral, etc; these are quite entertaining.  If only they would bring back the LOT8's during this programming, most viewers would likely not complain, knowing local weather was only minutes away.

Of course, occurring significant weather coverage should take priority over longform of any kind.

You'll notice that my TWC viewings had been severely diminished since 2012. It was starting to go less a little bit in 2009, but by 2012 it was when I stopped being a fan. Say what you about NBC's early years when they took over TWC, but at least it was decent compared to what we had nowadays.

How do we feel about TWC reviving Storm Stories? (As Storm Stories: The Next Chapter" What about "Deadline to Disaster"?

They're reviving Storm Stories (or Storm Bories as a friend of mine liked to call it)? Oh brother.

Storm stories has been airing since last summer at this point, they premiered a few weeks before that graphics refresh they did. It's not bad, and it's certainly better than watching shows about towing in Canada and plane crashes. I wish they did more weather related longform than what they do now.

Don't get me wrong, I dislike longform as much as the next person but they gotta keep that income for the network coming in somehow.
