For the past few months, I've noticed that the text label Memphis, TN on SkyTracker is using a Helvetica-like typeface as apposed to Interstate, like the rest of the text labels.

Anyone know why this is happening?
-
ummmm...it looks identical to all of the others...you're probably just going crazy.
-
I gotta admit, it looks the same to me too.
-
I don't know. For some reason the "Memphis" text always stuck out to me on the SkyTracker maps, as if it was using a different font than all the other cities.

Again, you're probably going crazy. 2 of us think its identical, therefore, it's 2 against 1. We win! :)

Here's another shot. It seems to be more noticeable here:

Nope, it's exactly the same.
-
You're not the only one, Billy. My eyes are worse than Gil's yet I can see a difference. Memphis is definitely a Helvetica-like font, whereas the others are interstate.
-
Ooooh i see it now. the tail on the P is different than the tails on all of the other names.
-
It looks identical to the P in Newport. Sorry fellows, I beg to differ with y'all.

I'm not sure I care if you agree or not. I'm not worried about whether anyone agrees or not.

I just want to be liked :(

Why are OCMs not using interstates on skytracker a lot? Cities look really weird when they don't have interstates running through them.

Speaking of Interstates, sometimes there is a SkyTracker bug (I guess that's what you would call it) where Interstates do not appear, but other major highways do. Like if they were to be showing the northeast, only highways like the Baltimore Washington Parkway, Garden State Parkway, Atlantic City Expressway, and a few other non-Interstates would show up. I think I might have a screenshot of it somewhere, but I'm not sure.

After seeing that second picture, I'm starting to agree with the theory about that font for Memphis being different.
-
I'm not sure what you all see in the second picture that looks different. Thelettering looks identical. A quick visual comparison of the p and e in Memphis with the p and e in Newport just to the Northwest confirms this.

Yeah, that Memphis font is definitely different then the rest.

The differences are quite obvious to me.
And while the P maybe similar, the E is different. Here's a look:
The E in Memphis:

The E in Newport:

Note that the bottom part of the E on Memphis is longer than the bottom part of the E on Newport.

Memphis has a larger font size?
-
I think that is exactly whats trowing you guys off. The word Memphis is larger than any other word on that map (except Nashville which is barely visible at the top right). I think the difference you guys are seeing is the difference between a larger and smaller font size.
-
I agree with Gary. I see no difference. Then again, you guys are "font experts" I suppose (I always read you guys talking about them :P) I see no difference. I just think that the Memphis font is bigger, as Gary said
