I wonder what it's like to be Adam Berg right now. It's 1:39 in the morning at TWC right now; normally he'd be at home enjoying the start of his "weekend", but instead he's cooped up at The Weather Channel standing by to do yet another live show at 2 A.M. Hopefully he's keeping himself busy over there with the rest of the graveyard shift, as tiring of a day it must be.

Remember when EEWC Weekend actually had its own OCMs? That would really come in handy on days like today.

He did a great job.  I watched the 11PM-12AM hour of EEWC, and the 12 AM update, and he did the best he could possibly do on updating the severe weather.

Today is yet another solo OCM day for the final hour of Day Planner, Weather Center, and PM Edition. Vivian Brown did the final hour of Day Planner and the first parts of Weather Center, but then Betty Davis stepped in at 2:20 and said that Vivian will be back tomorrow, and that Vivian had a barbeque to get to.

I'm assuming Betty was supposed to only do the 3 PM CT hour of Weather Center, but she had to step in early for Vivian.

Looks like I was correct, as Betty is now also doing the 3 PM CT hour of Weather Center.

Hmmm.. no "RIGHT NOW WEATHER" banner and frame tonight. I wonder if it's gone for good or if the person who normally uses it is off for Memorial Day.

On an interesting note, master controlled First Outlook used the same format as EEWC tonight; they used a teaser before the opener (for the first time) and used the same L3 text (using the FO L3s, though) and probably the same script for the teaser.

PM Edition tonight so far has been really poorly controlled. At the top of the show, they started off with a black screen (normal, all segments start off with a blank screen and then fade in to the show after the Local on the 8s) and then the teaser abruptly cuts in right in the middle of the teaser. They are also not using any sort of music at all (besides the teasers and openers), and they have not used lower thirds at all, from what I watched. The only exception to this was when they started off the :30 segment with a frozen video shot with a (also frozen) Day Planner lower third. And to top it off, they're using the standard blue live tag.

I wonder what's up with the control room this afternoon...

Now it looks like the light behind the big backdrop has burnt out or has been turned off - the Day Planner backdrop right now is literally pitch black!

Haven't the lights burned out before? Maybe there's a power issue.

I think they turn the lights off when they're going to change backdrops. The EE one ought to be up soon if it's not already up.

Yeah, the EE backdrop was up at the end of PME.

Looks like the normal person was off for Memorial Day. The banner is back tonight.

Did anyone see the start of PM Edition tonight? Carl Parker did the whole first segment without a tie (been seeing a lot of that out of him this week), and Betty Davis's microphone wire was completely sticking out of her top. There seemed to be a bit of disorganization before the show.:P

Mike Bettes is doing the weather.com forecasts tonight. Does he normally do them?

For the last month or two, they've had both the A&B and EE shifts on weekdays do the top story videos on weather.com while their shifts are in progress. Kristina Abernathy is still doing all of the rest of the videos for the night.
