A new annoying thing that started today is they are keeping the "Connect With" OCM Facebook and Twitter lower third on screen during the entire forecast segment.
All it does is add more clutter to the screen and not need to be on more then a few seconds.

Most of the other NBC owned channels and affiliates do this too, so I'm not surprised. Like on the Today Show, where the Facebook and Twitter icons are constantly on the screen.

They're trying (sometimes way too hard) to stay as relevant as possible with viewers. They anxiously need us to keep hittin' em up on FB or Tweeter (as Rick Perry would say) :P

They are doing it again today and in my opinion it's very annoying.
It's silly to have a lower third on screen for an entire forecast segment with the same information.

Contrary to what TWC may think, not everyone is on Facebook or Twitter all the time and therefore they might not see TWC there.  Did it occur to them that some may want to watch the channel instead?  This is pretty much a carbon copy of what I see on other networks and shows.  Hashtags are everywhere on those.

On another note, I actually saw them showing Storm Stories yesterday, likely due to Tornado Week coming up soon.  At least it was genuine weather-related longform, unlike some of this other stuff they're dreaming up these days.

On the HD Satellite LF, Dallas showed the "Windy" icon at 7:08 PM ET.

When even the OCM's are getting "Coast Guard" and "Lifeguard" mixed up when telling you what longform show is coming up next, you know there's too much longform to keep up with on the channel.  No joke, it just happened.

Whoever updates weather.com really needs to learn how to use spell check.  "Neverending" is not a word: never-ending, or never ending.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually like the current green-colored long-form TWC logo

IMO the current logo is a HUGE improvement over the awful transparent green logo they had in the past

The Weather Channel's Tournament Report

Wow, I really love those graphics. I wish TWC would invest some time and money into graphics that looked like this. I like set up of the lower-third. If only they had an updated graphic that detailed local weather.

Hope a graphics update is soon around the corner. TWC deff needs something more catchy then that god awful 7-day forecast graphic  :footinmouth:

TWC really needs to stop keeping the lower third graphic on the screen during forecast segments.
For some OCMs it's just their name on screen for the entire forecast segment. No channel does that.
It's bad enough they won't use 16:9 maps as they format for 4:3. The additional clutter is not needed.

Somehow, I do not seem to have a problem with this.  I do not see the Lower Thirds taking up that much space, and I actually think a little "hint" to follow an OCM on Facebook or Twitter is actually a good thing, especially given the rise of social media in this day and age.
