When the L Bar was used on the HD national feed all they had on the left side was national forecasts with a radar map.
I did not find it useful. It turned the video frame area to 4:3 which to me defeated the purpose of having a 16:9 video  frame.
For me the worst HD screen layout was when they had the L bar and giant LDL on screen leaving less then 4:3 space for the video.
The current screen layout is fine for me I just wish they would start formatting the maps for 16:9.

The fall station ID screen is live as of this morning.
I've gone off on a journey to be a moderator at another forum, but this place will forever remain home for me~

I agree 100%, then the space underneath the maps would be filled in with useful information, and the SD channel would look better.

Wasn't there an issue with the amount of space the 33% LDL took up? For example, I think I remember it would cover up practically the entire state of Texas on the Weekly Planner maps. But maybe it would look alright now that those have been updated...

If we really wanted to bring it back, put it on long-form. :P

I can say for certain the 33% LDL will not be returning.

That's a shame.  It's a great loss of information that could be displayed, especially considering TWC is reducing local forecasts to only two an hour.  The regular LDL isn't detailed enough, and the L-bar still leaves plenty to be desired.

I was so excited when the 33% LDL first appeared, and I was looking forward to seeing more of it.  You can imagine my disappointment when it was discontinued.

Since that's the case they should enhance the 16% to show the info the 33% showed. another reason they must've switched the format is because of music royalties/cut music playing time (removal of 4 K flavor LFs)

Since that's the case they should enhance the 16% to show the info the 33% showed.

I'm not quite sure how this would be possible, given the very limited space of the small LDL.  Other than the line identifying the location, there's only room for one line of text with graphics.  No radar, no daypart or extended forecasts: only one line each for current conditions and forecasts.

The 33% LDL would certainly give more information, which is why I am so puzzled and disappointed that TWC categorically refuses to use it.  Two local forecast segments are hardly enough, the L-bar is distracting (and a terrible waste of empty space on the HD feed), and the 16% LDL is barely adequate considering the greatly reduced amount of weather information on the channel.  The 33% would at least help to fill in the gaps, but TWC won't use it.

Now I'm wondering just how much longer it will be before TWC becomes a full-fledged network with only weather-related programming, with perhaps just an hour or so in the morning and evening reporting on the weather in a news-style presentation.  At one time, I would have thought such a thing impossible.  Now, I'm thinking it's only a matter of a couple of years, if even that long.

The network I once loved is disappointing me in ways I couldn't have even dreamed of.

The least TWC could do is add a radar where the LDL ad space is (Bottom Left corner) during live programming on the IS and IS2.

That won't happen.  They'll never want to give up that ad space.  They earn money by showing ads, not by showing radars.

Do they even show ads on the LDL anymore? All I have seen for awhile are the show names only.
