It looks like TWC did a "automated" tropical update at 2AM ET.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's something like this overnights whenever 24/7 weather returns.  I note that when David Clark was on Weatherbrains, he mentioned a 24/7 "weather stream" and not necessarily 24/7 live coverage.

I could see a "national current conditions/radar" thing with this.

We're going to have TWC all night! Keith and Bonnie are on until 1am, and Nick Walker will be on 1-5.

Keith says there won't be any longform this weekend.

I remember back in the day the network aired pre-recorded studio coverage from 2-5AM ET, which was essentially a loop of the 2AM hour.  If the network does indeed go weather 24/7 I could see this as a possibility again.  Better yet, they could air a continual loop of maps / radar set to background music and then add in LOT8s.  Of course if there is severe weather they would go live.

Trying to predict what TWC will do with its schedule is akin to predicting a hurricane track.  This next month will be an interesting one for TWC fans.

Interestingly, I just saw them promote Jim Cantore in South Carolina on ESPN College Gameday, with live video as well.

EDIT: oooooo, he's this week's "celebrity picker"

WUTV is live again for 3 hours, and word is special coverage will be going on again after. Maybe live all night again?

Update: Back to regular programming again, after 91 hours of coverage.

According to http://www.weather.com/tv/the-weather-channel-live/news/tv-schedule WUTV is only airing from 6-7 PM on Friday even though my DTV guide says 6-8 PM on Friday? Could this be a new schedule starting or just one of those company meetings or a typo? Just something I found interesting.

It may have something to do with Sam Champion moving to primetime.

I don't know if it's a glitch but I just heard the Storm alert music on the LOT8s.

EDIT: Now I understand why. TWC will be on air until 11PM ET to cover Hurricane Patricia. As of now, the LDL still remains blue but Storm Alert music is on LOT8s (it should of been used during the SC storms).

The Weather Channel now offers a SAP feed where alert scrolls are read out by a TTS voice.
! No longer available

i been watching TWC the last few minutes and it looks like The Weather Channel is now on Red Mode (minus the full LDL being in black with a red TWC logo and the current storm alert LOT8 music) and they seem to be using red and black fonts in the graphics.

this is the first time i seen it be in red/black fonts since they adopted the current graphics recently, they didn't do this during the South Carolina historic flooding or last week's coverage of Texas flooding and Hurricane Patrica as well.

WUTV was extended by an hour last night (by surprise), and then after 9pm ET they were said to be doing cut-ins every half hour as a result of the storm over the Midwest and Great Lakes region
